NUS's Campus Crusade for Christ say sorry

why would his church member encourage him to stay with the thai woman?

I guess because the church will support all their members no matter what happen ..jack neo is a good example .. All his church kakis stand by him .

Sexual attraction has nothing to do with religion. Financial gain has nothing to do with religion. Love is love with or without or with different religions. Con is con with or without or with different religions. Both sides are talking nonsense, trying to placate and smother blame linking religion to it.

NUS orders Christian group to stop all activities on campus

nus-article-desmondwee.jpg

The National University of Singapore (NUS) has ordered a student Christian group to cease all activities on campus, after it came under fire for its insensitive remarks about Buddhists and Muslims.

The NUS Campus Crusade for Christ received flak over the comments, which appeared on posters around campus and on its website last week.

The group, which has around 80 to 100 members, had put up the posters to promote a mission trip to Thailand. They said the country, known as the Land of Smiles, was actually 'a place of little true joy' because few there believe in Jesus Christ. The posters then urged students to help take Christianity to the Thais.

It made a similar gaffe on its website, where it promoted a mission trip to Turkey and said the country needed 'much prayer and work' because 'much of the population is M', referring to Muslims.

They need to sound less religious !!

I wonder how many people posting on this and expressing great anger are without blame and has never done a single stupid thing in their lives?

I was involved in Campus Crusade before and I must say that I strongly object to the putting up of these posters. However, the action of ONE person (the poster designer) does not mean all Christians are like that. I for one want to see the designer being taken to task. But to extrapolate it to everyone in Campus Crusade as being insensitive is going too far. Just because Osama liked bombing innocent people does not mean my friendly Muslim neighbour are in cahoots. In the wise (albeit foolishly used) words of Vivian Balakrishnan, let us call a spade a spade.

To look at it from another angle: how many of you have children and find it hard to impart values to them? How many parents, in their relentless drive to push their children higher up in the education ladder neglect to teach their children the values and virtues of harmonious living? How many of you actually made it a point to teach them about peaceful co-existence with people of other races and religion?

These kids grow up unaware of the potential backlash of their actions. If you talk to some of them, you could possibly find that they are genuine in their feelings and that it never occurred to them that certain actions can be taken in a very negative way. @hurley - your middle finger is your weapon or what? Try showing that to me in my face - I will make sure you are missing a digit. One unthinking act = elitist mindset? Which university were you from?

As usual , always blaming other people for their misdeeds. get real and grow up. it is NOT a one off thing. All these overzealous proselytisers have been doing it for ages locally.. Rony Tan and what CCC did is just the tip of the iceberg. which uni are you from?? when I was in school and NUS I frequently get accosted by these evangelist telling me I have "sinned" in my face and all sort of cr@p about going to hell. let's face it, everyone knows that it happens in almost everywhere even on the street in Orchard road. It is rude and obscene to assume everyone who is not a believer is a sinner and to tell it to another person openly in his face is tantamount to spitting in his face and asking for trouble,. why don't these people do it in Malaysia or Saudi arabia if they got the guts. you and I am entitled to our own opinions and beliefs BUT keep it at that. period . the moment these deluded @ssholes think they are on a crusade or mission to convert everyone openly to their religion is the road to conflict like in Middle east. At least the Muslims do not openly go round telling nonbelievers that they are sinners and destined for hell. how would you feel if someone tell you to convert to another to their religion or say openly that you would suffer in hell if you do not(the basic message). It is blardy rude and an insult. what CCC did is not new. everyone in NUS know it going on for ages and choose to turn a blind eye. the reason why NUS have to act this time is because the posters is a potential diplomatic time-bomb. To insult the Thais openly by saying there is "little joy" in Thailand as it is a buddhist country takes the cake for arrogance and stupidity. so don't come and tell us that this is a minor incident or a one off thing. BTW the youngs learn from the elders so what they are doing are essetially endorsed by their elders in the communities. If you come and tell me I am a "sinner", I would definitely show you my middle finger in your face and tell you to f@rk off. I have done it many times and no one has dare to challenge me. Warp logic about young ones genuine feelings. gimme a break. LMFAO. Who cares about their feelings when they do not care about mine in the first place. Pretty selfish isn't it. It is my right to tell them off as I consider it an insult and this is a secular country. I have never lost a debate with all these proselytisers. . easy to talk big about breaking other people fingers. afterall talk is cheap. :oIo::oIo::oIo:

how cum your 'god' never teach the poster designer properly? how cum your 'god' never didn't vet the poster before sending it to the printer?

how about those crusaders of yours who put up the posters? why didn't your 'god' send them a divine sign like a burning bush or shooting star?

To put all the blame on one single guy is a bit rich. Try again.

Most, if not all Christians are exactly like that, because they need to 'win souls', reach out to 'the lost', and fulfill the Great Commission. They will need to convert others, so as to save them from eternal damnation in hell.

Ergo, this incident Campus Crusade is the norm, rather than the exception to the norm which you seem to be insinuating here.

I myself have dabbled with several churches in my younger days. I know what's going on.

And seriously, you registered for an account here just to tell us 'not all Christians are like that'? That's rich.

You sympathised with the Campus Crusaders because you mentioned you were once involved in it.And NOT because you see issue with the ignorance those involved had shown.Their ignorance festered into delusion which further escalated into more controversy on their motivation.Their mission to prozelytise for grant of eternal life in heaven,to be save from eternal damnation and for a more joyous living cannot be convincing as God is now unable to provide them those conditions.God was not there when he should have warned the Campus Crusaders on the consequences of their foolish actions.Where did these members and other Christians the like get such distortions from?Students learn from textbooks and teachers,Christians learn from the Bible and Pastors.Pastors study the Bible so could the Bible misrepresent the word of God?

I agree with the opinions of most other SBF forumners on how they see the Christians.Aspiring a peaceful co-existence with people of other races and religion is an ideal but many Christians do not seem to get this point into their skulls or least try to even work on that.Im glad you choose to see relevance on this.

You claimed you would strongly object to putting up the posters. You are very brave and genuine to want to do so.

took them long enough to deal with these terrorists extremists.

you mean to tell me that there are so many smart ass graduates, lecturers and undergraduates there in NUS and so few of them can exercise logic and reasoning? I asked one of the senior lecturer there before and he rebutted all evolution, big bang and reasoning in favor of Christianity. what gives?
