Seelan Pilay - Fad phase?

Somehow got the impression that this chap was going thru an arty farty phase and his fad appears to be a social activist looking for a cause. Long sweeping hair, at times pony tail tied, social documentaries on injustice etc.

Now he is holding a candle light vigil hoping for peace in Sri Lanka.

Why Sri Lanka? How does that resonate with Singaporeans? Why not maid abuse in Singapore?

I was there with Seelan last Saturday. Question is, who are you?

Anyway, I don't blame people for feeling no affinity to Sri Lanka, and I also don't question Seelan for his feel and show of affinity. Not counting the Minibonds crowd, just counting those at Seelan's site, I saw almost all Indians/Sri Lankans except for less than 5 non-Indians (myself included). I do feel personal sympathy for the Sri Lankan civil war because of my association with a Sri Lankan temple in Singapore.

I'd say around 100, cant tell Tamil or Singhalese, since all spoke English. Even if they spoke Tamil or Sinhalese, I probably can't tell the difference too. But written, I can tell. Tamil I think most Singaporeans are familiar with and can tell it's Tamil writing even without understanding. Sinhlaese letters are very distinctively circular in design. I saw some Sinhalese writings on the notes of well wishes. Therefore, there must be some Sinhalese among them.
