Daft Sinkies mistaken a Monitor Lizard for a Crocodile..

There is no wildlife in singapore and the kids nowadays never even see any living things one.
One day someone is going to call the police and the papers claiming to have seen a rare exotic colourful bird and upon investigation , it will turn out to be a rooster.

Very true bro, very true. Singaporeans are gradually turning into myopic city idiots

I've met singaporean pointing to a palm oil tree and saying, "Waaah coconut tree! In singapore no more coconut trees".

Bud!, what's the difference between CROcODILE & LACOSTE?

Dunno. Er, one is a brand of underwear or a chee-kohpek, the other is a brand of high-end fashion apparel or French for very costly?

Cheers!

Lacoste crocodile faces left and Crocodile crocodile faces right. Lacoste sued Crocodile many years ago but failed to win conclusively. In fact, I think that lawsuit promoted and improved Crocodile in brandname and in quality. It doesn't matter anymore in modern economy and industry since both have most of their garments made in China or some other third world countries by cheap laborers anyway.

Hallo,

"Residents" does not mean sinkies.
Agreed..... As many condo is purchase by the rich ah tiongs and ah nehs........... l

"Locals" does not mean sinkies also.
Locals are peoples staying around that area which could be ah tiongs or ah nehs as there are 1.5 millions of FTs in SG now...

I am wearing a Crocodile brand t-shirt now. Used to ignore the brand but walked past the shop months ago and was impressed with what was on display. They don't come cheap - $80-$120. Bought 3-4 t-shirts. Theirs like quite trendy nowadays.

I don't think Sengkang conjures up images of foreigners when the locale is mentioned, unlike Holland V where the immediate piciture is of Caucasian expats even though the majority are still Singaporeans. Besides, I am sure Ah Nehs and Ah Tiongs will definitely know a monitor lizard (by their language) when they see one. Cannot say the same for Singaporeans, especially the scholars.

Cheers!

My late Ah Kong once told me that Ah Nehs in his kampong back in the 50s and 60s used to make curry out of the monitor lizards that they caught.. I'm serious.. This is not a racist comment by me.. Don't know whether my Ah Kong was kidding with me back then.. Can any Bros verify whether this is true..

I had relatives who had farms back in the 60s till early 70s. Any animal with meat when caught would end up in the cooking pots. Includes squirrels, civet cats, monitor lizards, pythons, frogs, flying foxes (large fruit bats) and pretty sure monkeys and large birds too - if they were unlucky enough.

I am sure our Indian neighbours who weren't vegetarians would too. Eating non-farm animals wasn't taboo or weird then. Don't know about our halal brothers though.

As a child, I didn't give it second thought and would chomp down anything the adults ate. Once I remember my uncle skinning a fat monitor lizard and it had eggs! So he proceeded to boil them. Those eggs, I pass. Fucking gross.

Cheers!

This is what happen when AVA banned exotic pet trade in Singapore . Nowaday kids can't even tell the different between a scorpion and a lobster ;)

Bud, that's not a croc, it's an alligator! Can't ya tell the difference?

That's a crocodile, not an alligator. Can't you tell the difference? There're alligators only in Yangtze, PRC and Mississippi, USA. All the rest of this family specie around the the rest of the world are crocodiles.

That's why I always say kids must be trained to kill animals. Then they'll grow up knowing the differences between animals.

i last ate monitor lizard meat in the 80s. not bad, a bit like white meat aka chicken but more heaty. the neighbour caught one that was raiding his chicken coop and gave some to us. my father use the meat to cook in stir fry ginger and oyster sauce. very nice and tasty.

...............

I couldn't tell from the picture. Have to see the snout and the teeth to confirm. However, the attachment is labelled gator.jpg.

The rest of the crocodilian family consists of caymans, and true and false gavials.

Cheers!

Interesting account from you.. Guess I not that daring as you in eating exotic meats..:o Once went to Vietnam on a job trip years back.. Few of my colleagues went to this restaurant in Ho Chin Minh to try out some snake dishes.. When we were already at the entrance of the restaurant, I chickened out..:o :o :o

Siao ... is that how u train kids to tell the different between animals by killing ? U don't need to teach kid about animals by killing those animals .do U need to hire bro knnbccb to teach kid what's the different between Chinese and Indian by killing ?

Who told u USA don't have crocodiles ? Members species of the family Crocodylidae are large aquatic reptiles that live throughout the tropics in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia.

Drifter if you remember 4 years back, a small crocodile was sighted at the Pasir Ris beach mangrove.. Then few days later, an angler by accident caught that small croc with his fishing line.. I'm just curious, if a juvenile croc was spotted there, does that means that the mother croc was can also be around the area too?

Sorry bro 4 years ago I already not in Singapore . If I'm not Wrong , Those crocs are released into the reservoir by our goverment .. To protect the Eco system . And if I'm not wrong , only male or female crocs ( same sex ) are released into the reservior to control the population of the crocs .... Preven them from breeding .
