old folks should play more mahjong

Agree and double agree. One of the reason why my elder folks not keen to go elsewhere outside SG is MJ. Maybe TW,HK and PRC are OK but LOS really no MJ kakis.

Thought I am good in MJ until I played MJ with my mum and her senior citizen friends. Cannot fight their 40-50 years experience in the game.

I wonder if any of your old folks can play like this :) :)

Play more chess too.

1) Chinese chess (Xiangqi)
2) International chess
3) Weiqi (Go)
4) Shogi (Japanese chess) Rules here
5) Animal chess (Dou shou qi) a.k.a Jungle
6) Military chess (Jun qi) Layout here
7) Checkers
8) Reversi
9) Backgammon
10) Chinese checkers Layout here

---------
Card games too:
1) Bridge
2) Big 2 (Chor dai dee)
3) German bridge
4) Hearts
5) Spades
6) Poker
7) Blackjack
8) Baccarat

Shanghai-styled Mahjong is the most mentally stimulating kind compared to SG, HK or TW style.

If you are mindful and attentive enough, luck aside, you can read the game and outcome, just after the first few turns of play. Shiok!

The most social games are mahjong, bridge, Big2, blackjack.

Wei Qi is for the serious intellectual, but too anti-social for my liking.

Chess

Once, I won all 16 rounds or 4 winds. This is the result of skill plus good luck. In all games, luck play a big part except chess ?

Wow...bring back old memories...

I opine old folks should have a love life. The thrill of falling in love and being loved will make their final days more meaningful.

Mahjong is the one Chinese game that proves Chinese wisdom and strategem over non-Chinese and westerners. Chinese have always figured out how to play western games within hours or even within minutes. Westerners still haven't figure out how to play mahjong after centuries. Look at all the crap western computer mahjong games. They took the tile designs and made the game into trying to find and match off four same tiles. No Chinese above 3 years old would play that sort of crap.

Sleeping In Void Decks

I opine old folks should have a love life. The thrill of falling in love and being loved will make their final days more meaningful.

Then, you will see more old men being divorced by their old spouses, and disowned by their own grown up children as well as sleeping in void decks, under the bridges, in tunnels, etc.
