Shrimp that will boil in steam boat but STILL ALIVE!

H2O is H20. Water in US, is not the same as water in Sinkieland. Drink only H20, see you got any medical problems or not.

H2O is same on land and under 5000m of ocean, same as the water on mars and same as the water trillions trillions miles away in another galaxy.

yuck newater. taste like shit. I was talking about water in pure form, one hydrogen molecule and two oxygen molecules.

I am not even referring to Newater. For the benefit of readers, I hightlighted that H2O is not for human consumption, too pure and no minerals, it will leech minerals from the body if consume. So that they won't be under the misconception that distilled water is pure and good, therefore good for health.

That US water is drinkable is a sick joke. I've never drunk it off the tap just like that. I wouldn't even bother to boil it. It's simply unpottable. Only stupid Americans believe that. Reason is not because of the water but the very ill-maintained pipes and taps. You'd be drinking quite a lot of rust and insect wastes whether boiled or not. Singapore tap water quality and piping system is the best in the world I know. Even that, I'd still have to boil it before I'd drink it.

That's why smarter and clearer-minded Americans invented bottled water. The Thais are more honest and ethical. They simply admit it and declare their tap water unpottable and even all Thai hawkers use bottled water for cooking. Tap water is only for washing.

No love lost even with additional cost for bottled water, since they charge very little for tap water. The problem in Singapore is, PUB forces us to use high quality expensive water even for simple washing and flushing. They're wasting water, not us, but it's profitable for them.

Then about 10 years ago, LSS as Environment Minister came up with the NEWater project, a.k.a. shitwater for bottled water. I think I don't need to elaborate more. Most of you know and can see. Singapore has so many reservoirs and so much rainfall until flooding. Water not enough?

let not move away from the subject of water quality, i said that the shrimp which survive at 450C in 5000m will be boil and die in boiling steamboat in restaurant on land. Do you agree with me?

Obviously they are surviving at 450C in 5000m, but I do not know if they will survive in boiling steamboat.

i think they are alive there at 450C because of certain environmental conditions there but will be cooked in normal steamboat ;P

At last someone who pass science appear, in case they have some questions, please help to answer them, obviously you are good in science. Thank you.

Boiling water reaches "boiling point", "boiling point" is the point/temperature that causes water to rapidly vapourize. In sinveld's control vacum example, liquid in human will boil and vapourize if atmospheric pressure is lowered sufficiently for water to boil at 40C which is the normal temp of human. In this sense, liquid in human vapourizes at 40c if that is the boiling point. Human starts to cook if internal temp is about 43C at sea level. But at atmospheric high pressure, water boil at higher temperatures, even if doesn't boil, the heat is still there, at 450c.
Heat and boil are 2 different thing...de shrimp may survive 450c down there becoz at tat temp n unique environment, h2o doesn't chg it state frm liquid to gas. Put em in another unique environment whereby temp remain at 450c but dis time boil at tat temp...it will die coz dis time...de h2o in its body evaporate...dis is true if de fluid in shrimp is the same h2o as we know...wat if it is sumting else...

de fluid in shrimp is the same h2o as we know...wat if it is sumting else...

the fluid in the shrimp is the same as the fluid in your body. water is water. Their biology make it possible for them to survive in high pressure, not because the fluid is different.

Instead of marveling at the beauty and ingenuity of nature that allows life at such extremes....
You guys are debating if we can cook the shrimps during CNY steamboat....
Amazing...

that is not true, i was just correcting their understanding of basic science. I do not want to eat shrimps that live in 5000m. Yucks.

Actually they live a little bit further away. A few meters away the temperature is down to 20 to 40 degrees [Celsius] :P

And you wonder why they have to congregate in the searing heat, instead of a few meters away.

Could be their diet of pure minerals are more tasty and easier to digest? :D
