The Malay Race Is Truly A Very Gracious One - Humble and Helpful

I've stayed in JB for the past year and realized that malays are not pushovers and they don't buy into hype. An example are food stalls and restaurants. Just go to where the crowds are and the food would most likely be good. Not necessary cheap though. A new shopping centre with a swanky food court will not make them come out in droves just to try the food, as most of them have their own favorite eating place. Unlike in peesai where food that taste like crap gets rave reviews from sinkees.
There are so many occasions where I tried food recommended by friends in peesai that have long waiting lines only to be amazed later on when I tried the food and it taste like crap or just average. But I have to say that services in MY is not up to scratch though. Taxis here are shit.

Remind me about the Famous Changi Village Nasi lemak where there is always a long line waiting for food. I once joined the queue.
The nasi lemak was tasteless as the rice appeared to be more like plain rice. Only a little coconut milk was added into it.
The other stalls that don't have queues serve better and tasty nasi-lemak.
Dont waste time queueing up.

How can you tell I am a Malay just because I wrote something on the Malays. Just because someone can speak Malay does not make him a Malay. The same with someone that speaks Hokkien, Teochew, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali and Persian.
There are so many books written by others on other races and religions. Does that mean that they are one of those race or belong to that religion.
Red Amoeba I have answered your other query too.
Do you know what is the official language of Singapore under the Constitution?
It would be best if you know it.
Have a good day.

yes, bahasa melayu,

its because of historical reason...if Tungku did not have his PMS and kicked us out, we will be typing forum budak sammy....(sorry literal translation from google)

ok...as i said, there are white sheep and there are black.

I have bad experience with malays in malaysia - in time of need, they chose to exploit the situation.well, what can i say..

but i don't subscribe to the idea that all malays are bad...just that i jolly well know, some chinese are worse than animals.

I truly emphatise with you. This is human nature. There are people who wants to benefit even at others suffering and pain. A good example is when a friends mother passed away in Malaysia, he had to bribe the hospital authorities to get the death certificate, which was signed by another "boss" in KL. Then there were other departments wanting "money" too. With so much of sorrow and pain, he had to "grease" the pockets of these "people in authority" until the body reached Singapore. Truly sad, but it happens. All I can say is that those doing does not believe in "retribution". They know not that a day will dawn when they too are in the same shoes.
I agree with your mention of white and black sheep.

While most Chinese view the Malays as simpletons, reality is somewhat different. Malays have a far greater understanding of what life is all about and structure their activities and career choices accordingly. The lead balanced lives that are stress free, spiritually and emotionally rewarding and most importantly bring joy and contentment.

The Chinese are the real simpletons. They have this crazy notion that life revolves around $$$$ and very little else. As a result, they spend their whole lives beholden to money. Everything they do is driven by the desire to accumulate wealth and they're willing to lie, cheat, back stab, pirate, even kill [directly or indirectly] to achieve their monetary goals. At the end of it all, they end up dead just like everyone else but they have enough money to buy hell money, paper mercs and condos that they can take to the afterlife.

Tell me who the real idiots are? The Chinese of course.

PS: If they can't achieve their monetary goals, a fair number actually kill themselves. That just has to be height of idiocy and cowardliness.

I hate to say this but I agreed totally.

The Malays are laid back people and easy with life. They stay with parents, grandparents, relatives in one 3 room flat and are still happy and accepting. They owed a weekend korean car but they made it very comfortable with cushy pillows and clean their cars every week.

The chinese are constantly unsatisfied with life and see everything in money/profit terms. You see children suing their parents, siblings in court over money matters and even chasing out their parents from their houses. they have no religion, no real friends or even family as they see everything in overly prgmatic terms. The chinese may drive expensive continental cars but they do not really enjoy their cars much..many used it as a transport only while some even used it to show off. My friend dad big Audi are piled up with documents, newspaper inside and the cars are washed once a month.

The Malays loves football and can travel to watch matches after work and do not mind their kids to play football as career. Many chinese watch football to bet money and many cannot even play proper football.

Good and fair and balanced write up.

You'll never see a malay write this.

He'll say singaporean chinese are racist this and that totally leave out the part where non malays are exploited in malaysia for eg.

When chinese write up on their race you;ll either see those hating on their own race and you'll see those like red here who chooses to write on both sides fairly.

Sounds like retarded crap. If a chinese acted like a malay he would be called lazy and so on and fyi there are malays that bet on football and this and that.

Well malays love new stuff like clothes, nice phones and nice homes etc and all of these cost money, therefore they are materialistic. There's a large number of malays that love to cheat, steal and borrow money without returning.

If they are gracious, humble and helpful as what you claim, why millions of Msian Chinese flee the country? The chinese population in the 60s were 40%, and now it had reduced to 20% or less in mudland.

You are such a toot. The Chinese proportion dwindled because they used condoms while the Malays did not... Chinese did not "flee the country"

No matter what people may say, I want to put it in writing to say that the Malays here and in Malaysia are by and large a very gracious, humble and helpful people. They are very polite people. approachable and renders help immediately irregardless of who you may be.
They are also very good in sports and the entertainment industry.
I like to encounter two past encounters with them that led to me to come to my conclusion. One was an encounter on land in malaysia and the other at sea. Incidentally both incidents concerned Malays from Malaysia.
Land Encounter:
Once I was driving towards Kelantan and had an encounter with very friendly, helpful and concerned Malays from the nearby kampong. My old junkie car got over-heated. My friends and me went to a nearby stream close to a Malay kampong. In so doing we had to enter the well-swept, clean and green Malay Kampong. I was holding a plastic jerry can. There was a pondok (communal hut) nearby and some Malay elders were seating there having their cigarettes. They saw us walking up. One of them, the oldest immediately stood up with an unsteady gait asked us what was wrong. When we related our problems to him, he immediately called some young people from the kampong and told them to get water from the well. The youngsters obeyed his command and assisted us in refilling the hot radiator.
In the menatime, we were given teh-o and some kueh by the kampong ladies. We were all touched by their gesture, especially when they heard that we are from Singapore and that Singaporeans are good people.

Sea Encounter:
Many years ago, I accompanied my friend in his Dynaglass Fishing Boat from 14 ms Sembawang End and headed towards the direction of Ponggol End. Half way through the benzine for the outboard motor dried up. Not realising that the oil was gone, my friend kept switching the ignition key until the carbon inside the starter gave way. Having connected the fuel-hose to the second jerry can of benzine, he tried starting the engine frantically by using the pulley cord. Many attempts failed and the miserable cord gave way too. Menawhile our boat was drifing dangerously towards Pasir Gudang and into the direction of huge vessels that may be coming into the ports of Semabwang and Pasir Gudang. It was already dark. We used the torchlight to shine out to sea. A small sampan (fishing boat) appeared. The Malay man on board, a Malaysian offered help. The engine could not start. He then used his boat and started to pull us towards Ponggol coastline. He was very close when the flashing lights of a Singapore Coastguard vessel was seen. We were stopped and an inspection carried out. We told the policemen on board about what happened. They thanked the Malay man and advised him to go back to his waters, which he did. Prior to that we wanted to give him $50 for all his help. He refused, smiled and told us that as humans we have to help one another, especially at sea. The gentleman then disappaered in the darkness.
All this and many other incidents of help from the Malay community has proven that the Malays are indeed a very gracious people.Courtesy begets courtesy. Speak to the Malay Immigratiion and Kastams people with respect and they will surely reciprocate. Be rude to them and you too will get bad treatment.

I agree with you, and i would like to add to your land and sea encounter a third dimension - my Air encounter.
I was travelling on MAS and felt very bored... the Malay stewardess chatted with me whenever she was free and it made the entire journey so much more enjoyable!

The Malays are a good lot otherwise how do one explain the fact that the Chinese could survive and prosper in Malaya for two centuries...

There used to be a small but thriving Chinese community in Calcutta. They were mainly in the boat making and leather goods business. Their relative wealth lead to resentment by the locals and the state government started to impose restrictions on the way the Chinese conducted their business. Later on, it became so difficult for the Chinese to continue with their businesses that many chose to emigrate to other countries. Today in Calcutta, the Chinese community is almost non-existent.

that is simply because only 1 keling shit can tahan the stench of another keling shit. thats why all other races fled keling land.

I think despite unhappiness or a negative attitude towards the malays in Malaysia, many chinese malaysians r glad that their forefathers choose to come to malaya then indonesia,Thailand,Philippined or Vietnam.
Some malaysians chinese confide that they can still retain all their culture, language, chinese names, religion in malaysia without fearing any assimiation like in Indonesia,Thailand,Vietnam n Philippines. They still have their chinese schools when even spore has closed them completedly in the 70s. They did not like the affirmative policy but has come to accept it as part of the extra help the natives received.

Spore is also fortunately that our neighbours r malaysia n a lesser extent indonesia that spore is relatively safe from direct aggression. Imagine if our neigbours r china, japan, russia, vietnam or korea. We would not been existance . Yes,we have the US n Saf but this is an additional deterrence. I do not believe these countries would allow the refer of territorial disputes eg pedra branca to the international court. They would use direct military force to settle it.

The malays are naturally laid back n easy going n this has nothing to do with their religion.it is a southeast asian trait. They will be the same as they even if they are of another religion.Unfortunately Wahabism has create a minority of zealots but it a global trait n not reserved to them only. Yes,some are prone to petty wrongdoing n thus msny describe them as untrustworthy. But then every ethnic groups have untrustful ppl too.

Again the chinese managed to thrive over lesser ppls and as usual get bullied but of course nobody blames them for doing that to the chinese cos it's ok. Then ppl will say these chinese only care about money but somehow others are so jealous of them.

If it was an indian community getting discriminated in hk for eg. Wow outrage!!! Chinese racists!!!!

When chinese are victims of racism, oh it's ok no problem.

Chinese dogs: It's ok to be racist to our race we only get concerned when other races get bullied especially by chinese.

Guys thanks for your input and yes your angle of looking at things is very good mudland and indon are the lesser evils compared to other countries but you see i wonder when will we see a malay writing like this or some other minority writing in similar style.

malay person: The chinese in singapore are a good lot otherwise how would we not get physically assaulted on the streets from racist chinese. At the most we just get stereotyped by a few chinese on the net and we also stereotype chinese. I have nice chinese frens and they are very frenly to me. You malays should not be complaining and only thinking of the bad things some chinese do to you and forget all your nice chinese frens. They respect our religion and also this country is the richest in SEA and richer than our neighbours we have a higher standard of living than them. I'm thankful for the chinese here. In other countries like russia and so on they are very violent to the minorities and they insult them openly. We must always be thankful there's nothing like this in sg.

Have you ever read a malay or minority write like this?

This is one thing that really confuses me. Ok chinese ppl should be thankful their neighbours malays and indonesians aren't that aggressive ok accepted. Yet we never ever hear malays being thankful that "racism" in sg isn't really racism. Day in and day out i keep on hearing complaints over small remarks that they are guilty of. Seems to me only 1 side is grateful and the other side never ever reciprocates.

I think as minorities, naturally they feel insecure n therefore many will set their tones on the majority as reasons for their problems. In restropect, the chinese minority in msia or indonesia also grumble about their minority status n how the majority treated them. Its human nature.

I guess the other reason lies in the fact that they being laid back, easy going n not in the fast lane as the majority, they feel a certain despair. They have a feeling wrongly that they r taken for a ride which is not true. In the Malay Dilemma, mahatir wrote abt a normal scene in 60s msia.On a queue for petrol,he noticed that the malays were chin chai n were not as rush as the chinese. When the chinese cut the queue or when the chinesd ask to be on the front, they mostly say ok..so some chinese took the apportunity to cut n be the first, leaving all the malays behind. This is not wrhong. The chinese being naturally on the ball in everything they do get the cake first.

Yes,mahatir used this to justify his NEP,but the reality is there. So some stlll have the feeling that they are left behind . So sometimes, spore also gives them extra assitance in order to help them moves in tandem with the country's deveptment.

Hopefully as they are educated n also progress , we will hear less of thise grumbles as well.

Re: Racial Riot In 1964 ?

Dayak-Tribal-Tattoo.jpg

I read about the riot and it was the damn m&ds that were violent first. They were told by the police to keep in line or something they were not happy and started getting violent. They were clearly in the wrong yet of course nothing gets mentioned.

Now some malays are nice and frenly and some of them openly backstabbed chinese as in ww2 in which they pao toh chinese to the japs and hide behind their smiles but yet it seems like there's quite a percentage of m&ds/indons etc that indulge in violent behavior. They seem to be prone to violence and love to mock ppl. Yet this is considered as them being garang or daring. Look at how easily the indons indulge in violence look at how racist they are to non malays in mudland and so on.

'Mighty' PAP is scared of these mudland people. WTF !

Malays, Polynesians and Africans never develop their technology since the day they arrived here 75,000 yo ?

This malay here must be a freak then he's a forummer here with the nick whoami, his post here in which he quoted me and put his replies in red. I'll just post part of his reply relevant to this topic.

http://singsupplies.com/showthread....ding-habits-(Acceptable-)&p=531645#post531645

I used to live in kampong. But my neighbours were very nice Chinese then. Not so racist as what we can see here. I suppose they were the minorities in a majority Malay kamp. Back then, of course, I like their attitude. Hardworking. Very cham siong type. I rather write on their positive attributes rather than the neg. I prefer to have them as my neighbours so that my children could integrate, study together, excel in their studies and at the same time learn mandarin with them as well.

See why i call him a freak. He must be a freak. Here we have a thread praising malays for taking it easy and yet here's a malay that actually praises the money minded souless machine-like work attics of his chinese neighbours? These unfeeling don't give a shit about anything except money chinese that work hard so as to earn more money cos that's all there is to life and here we have a malay that wants his kids to grow up to become like that? even worse wants his malay kids to learn chinese? Chinese is such an inferior language that even the chinese don't want to learn it. This malay guy must be out of his mind.
