I recall that his good friend Woody once proclaimed proudly to the public in a rally that Lim is of ministerial material. I took that with more than a pinch of salt. His track record (or lack of) so far both in and out of Cabinet seems to confirm that he is an overrated and overpaid dinosaur. To put him in charge of the task force to retake Aljunied is going to be a massive flop. He should instead star in a mediacorpse production and cry his heart out!

I actually think it is a good strategy from PAP to announce this to the public. Wayang or not, at least, it is a show of intent and to 安服兵心. Lee Boon Heng has "quit" politics so he is just an advisor there to 安服兵心. The 兵 are the grassroots people. They are essential to PAP's survival and continuation as the ruling party. PAP must maintain the grassroots' presence at Aljunied GRC, just as they did at Potong Pasir and Hougang SMC.
