One of the reason the sex crimes in Singapore is relatively as compared to Western countries is the harsh and barbaric penalty imposed on the offenders, namely caning.

Those enlightned Westerners would love to mock at Singapore barbaric medieval treatment of sex offenders yet it prove to be a strong deterrent against those would-be sex offenders.

Who would want to risk days of painful backside for a few seconds of itchy fingers ?
