At the end of the day, all I'm doing is trying to create a microcosm of real life in this little forum. The reputation points system facilitates an added dimension to the verbal sparring that goes on. It's a feature that can be used to mimic the backstabbing, cronyism and gang warfare that exists in the real world.

Why anyone would want me to get rid of it or tone it down is beyond me. :p

Yes.... just one gripe here - give the newbies some breathing space. Start the newbie off with 10 points but reduce the moderation cutoff point from the current 10.

Let the genuine ones survive a zap or two and make things clearer in your noob FAQ, like some have already suggested.

You can't imagine how much I laughed when you quoted that huge chunk of message (itself deserving of an infraction) and then called that guy a cunt in sheep skin. I couldn't help it, I was weak in mind, and I gave you points.

If that is a crime to you then as an orientable gentleman I guess I should pay the highest penalty.

I am not advocating the abolishment the status quo. But giving my POV and 2c to discourage creation of clones. The rep power increase which is dependent on age of the account is flawed. Either give my POV some thought, or disregard it.

It's like a computer game. Strategy is important. There's nothing wrong with a few rep points wars here and there. It makes for interesting viewing.

Try and organise yourselves the way a group of Yanks or Australians do when they want to get something done. They don't sit back and complain that the govt isn't doing anything. They get together and make it happen.

However, very few actually want to participate in the process of getting things done. They expect someone else to do the hard yard. When people like Goh Meng Seng actually try to make a difference in the real world, all he does is get flamed from anonymous armchair critics.

Take a look at this thread. All this talk about moderation and moderators and assistants but I have yet to receive a single private message from anyone actually pledging to be given a chance to help out, to moderate without fear or favour, to be absolutely impartial and to make this forum a better place.

All I see is a lot of hot air.
