SINGAPORE: Singapore's Wang Yuegu has caused a sensation at the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals in London, upsetting the top seed Guo Yan of China.
The 31-year-old beat Guo 11-8, 6-11, 11-8, 5-11, 8-11, 11-7, 13-11 to move into the semi-finals.
Wang is the only Singaporean left in the women's singles, after Feng Tianwei lost to Li Xiaoxia.
Three of the last four women standing are from China.
Wang and her compatriot Li Jiawei also advanced to the last four of the women's doubles, after beating the English pair of Joanna Parker and Kelly Sibley 11-6, 5-11, 13-11,11-4, 11-3.
They next face China's Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia.
In the men's doubles, it was an epic victory for Singapore pair of Yang Zi and Zhan Jian.
They knocked out the defending champions from Hong Kong - Jiang Tianyi and Tang Peng - 11-1, 9-11, 7-11, 7-11, 11-9,14-12, 12-10.
But in the semifinals, China's duo of Ma Long and Wang Hao beat Yang Zi and Zhan Jian 11-4, 7-11, 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 14-12, 12-10.
In the men's singles, Singapore's Gao Ning qualified for the quarter-finals after beating Olympic champion Ma Lin of China 10-12, 11-9, 9-11, 5-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-8.
