Re: Taiwanese said their gods so powerful, temple fell off hill drop 100m, Gods still

We have different interpretations on the definition of religions. A religion first must provide sound moral bearings for its followers. If it doesn't, then i won't regard it as one.

To each his own, anyway.

Religion provide sound moral? You must be kidding me. The world 2 well known religion is anything but moral. They permit killing of another human being just because they are not in the same believe system or god. And not only that, they incite hatred, condemnation and curse non-believers with sufferings and punishment just because they are non-believers. That to me, is no moral to begin with.

On the other hand, you don't need religion to be kind, thoughtful and compassionate towards another human life or life in general. All you need is common sense and a correct form of education.

bro ,no matter what happens religious ppl will believe what they wanted themselves to believe...blind faith is a must in every religions . look at islam ...one day pray so many times like their god is deaf .

Marx said, 'religion is the opium of the people'. Peaceful co-existence needed to maintain religious harmony all over the world.

Re: Taiwanese said their gods so powerful, temple fell off hill drop 100m, Gods still

Religion by definition is blind faith. Once scientifically proven, it ceases to be a religion.

Ah Ram, welcome back!

Long, long ago in ancient China there was a chinese man, a Hakka guy, who claim he was Jesus long lost brother. With this claim he created a revolution that almost overthrew a dynasty.
Along the way he made lots of money and had a very good life.

2 points:

1. Like any (belief) system, it can be abused, if not we won't have oxymoronic terms like "modern-day monks", "pedophalic priests" or "militant muslims".

2. I doubt the form of education that you mentioned can be dispensed en masse. And yes it's up to the individual to put in the effort and time to cultivate the values you cited, with or without religious influence.

Best without the dogma of religious belief as it narrows and obstruct the prospect of improvement and advancement.

Ah Ram, welcome back!

Thanks. After a few rounds of stay with and sayang by Ratyindee Thai nurses and Tan Tock Seng PRC nurses. Inconvenienced but I love the nurses. :D Very good. Nothing suggestive or erotic for those straying or dirty minds, the nurses were good. I support PRC nurses for Singapore. Most Singapore girls don't want the job anyway. How to survive without enough nurses?

Hahahaha...... You seem to be easily warded in hospitals. Thank the good Lord that while I am in my 50s, I have yet to stay overnight in a hospital. I prefer encounters with PRCs in KTVs and HFJs, not see pai pohs.

Also, not forgetting that human rights movement, animal rights and cruelty prevention to animals, and women's equality movements, these values were not affiliated to any religious believes but you see nowadays were common values respected by en masse or the majority of the developed countries.

It is possible to have a humane world without the dogma of religion.

Another Hakka man, a Christian, did overthrow the dynasty in 1911.

Yet another Hakka great man, a Communist, brought prosperity to China beginning in 1979.

Somehow these two Hakkas seem to be at the right place at the right time.
1911 the Qing were already a considerably weakened dynasty and at the tail end of their power. So were Mao in 1979. He was at wits end holding on to his power.

Re: Taiwanese said their gods so powerful, temple fell off hill drop 100m, Gods still

Hakkas are like jews..................they're loyal to no one and no country but their own.................

that's why LKY killing s'poreans...............

Re: Taiwanese said their gods so powerful, temple fell off hill drop 100m, Gods still

Another Hakka man, a Christian, did overthrow the dynasty in 1911.

Sun might not be a Hakka. His ancestors were not among the Hakka removed from Zijin in early Qing. The village of Cuiheng was Cantonese surrounded by Hakka villages. The Suns in Cuiheng denied their "Zijin origin", but claimed a "Dongguan origin", insisting that they were Cantonese.

Re: Taiwanese said their gods so powerful, temple fell off hill drop 100m, Gods still

Yes,Sun Yat-Sen is not a Hakka..He is a Cantonese..Deng is a Hakka and so its Lee Kuan Yew and lee Teng-hui. Another famous Hakka is Marshal Ye Jianying, one of the CCP pioneer military commander.

The Taiping leader Hong Xiuquan is a Hakka. He amassed Hakkas into a quasi-Christian rebel group that nearly overthrew the Qing dynasty if not for Western forces interference that save the Qing.
