Dear Ms Chua,
Your front page banner today highlighted two opposition parties' manifestos, namely the Workers' Party's and the Singapore Democratic Party's.
Your headlines is wrong. In the first place the SDP did not launch our manifesto yesterday. It was The SDP Promise that we had put forth - a 10-point pledge that we make with the voters in the constituencies that we are going to contest in.
And while you spell out 'Workers' Party' in full, you only print the initials 'SDP'.
Even more egregious is that instead of having our logo on the banner, you put up some other party's.
This is sloppy reporting at its worst. It is unforgivable that your newspaper would make such a fundamental and glaring mistake over such important news.
Ballot papers in Singapore carry the party logo and symbol recognition is an important aspect of voting behaviour among Singaporeans.
We ask that you rectify the error by reprinting a correction in tomorrow's edition of the Straits Times accompanied by the correct logo on your front page. The amendment should not be buried unnoticeable in your 'What it should have been' column in one of the inside pages.
