Not really. Don't be too intimidated by Women's Charter, but be fair to the woman (wife) too. Wife should be fair to husband too. And the law would be fair to you all. There's only one side of the story. The wife caught hugging and kissing another man. Straying or betrayal as it may be, the court will take into account what caused it. For example, if the wife is an any-rider slut, has a change of heart or if the husband has neglected her and family, behaved inappropriately too etc.

The judges have to hear other sides of the stories and they can hire lawyers to speak for them. I believe such a system is not only in Singapore, but in US, UK etc. as well, including Japan.

Why (reason or motive) is pillar to law, with the other pillar being the act (or omission). It makes the difference between murder and manslaughter, death or life sentence. If you don't believe in law, what else have I got to say?

I think the law has been lenient to the accused especially taking into the fact that how this guy and his wife has been doing such shameless act behind his back.

Fined only $2500 without any jail sentence while the victim ended up in comatose for 32 days. Accused has no intent at all as he does not know victim.

1. Husband - fine for using violent , allowed to divorce wife w/o maintenance. SHould be spared the rattan as his heart has already bee caned by his wife

2. Wife - 3 stroke of cane for breaking the marriage vow and ordered to pay back her husband all the $ he had used on her starting count from dating date,

3. 3rd party - fine and cane 3 stroke for spoiling ppl's marriage, resulting in the husbands' mental stress and damage of dignity, and future perception towards woman.

Exactly. That's why law is fair. It allows me to stay out of shitholes too after doing some shitty stuff.

Hubby fined for beating up man who kissed wife

AN ENGINEER who beat up a man for smooching with his wife at a staircase near his flat early one morning was given the maximum fine of $2,500 on Friday.

Desmond Hua Chung Fook, 28, originally accused of causing grievous hurt, pleaded guilty to slapping and punching Mr Darryl Oi Weijian, 24, several times on his face and body, causing him to fall and suffer serious injuries.

The incident took place at a staircase of a block of flats in Toa Payoh Central on July 2, 2009. A district court was told that Hua's wife, Ms Zhang Huiqing, 29, had gone drinking with friends, including Mr Oi - an ex-colleague - at St James Power Station the night before.

Mr Oi freelances in the IT industry. When Mr Oi took Ms Zhang home, he suggested a smoke at the staircase landing outside her home. She agreed. Eventually, they became intimate and hugged and kissed each other.

They were spotted by Hua who happened to come out for a smoke. Mr Oi took to his heels on seeing him and Hua chased him. He assaulted the victim on the left cheek. In the midst of the tussle, Mr Oi fell down the flight of steps.

He managed to pick himself up and head for the lift lobby where he was again assaulted by Hua. While tussling with the victim, Hua pushed him, causing him to knock himself against the railings.

The victim was comatose when admitted to hospital and lost his memory for 32 days. Hua could have been jailed for up to three months and/or fined for causing hurt on grave and sudden provocation.

Membership has its privileges. Lawyers invented such impressive terms as "read law" and "called to bar." I'm sure most of them have ways to get themselves out of trouble, though some inadvertently fell through the net, as with all other professions.

1.Think the court should empathize with the man actions after all which man would not have reacted as thus.
2. Unfortunately I think Singapore does not provide caning for women, unlike those archaic muslim countries that provides stoning. Not a bad idea in fact.
3. Think if the man divorce his wife, he can actually named this guy as the one who cause his marriage to breakdown and court can order him to pay cost.
