How does the system work here?

It's a mirror image of how the PAP government runs Singapore.

Every country has rules and regulations including those which are bastions of free speech and democracy.

The problem with the PAP system is that there are one set of rules for them and another set of rules for everyone else. For example the PAP can organise marches. The Opposition is fined and jailed for doing the same.

This forum cannot be more different. The same rules apply no matter what your opinions are. The proof of this is there for all to see. Just review the content on a daily basis and see for yourself.

People can report whatever they want but if I take a look and it isn't spam there is no penalty whatsoever. In fact, action will be taken not against you but against the member who repeatedly abuses the system.

In your case, your post is still there so I don't understand what you're complaining about. It's not as if you were penalised for a sin you did not commit.

Strong VPN is something that everyone should use in this day and age especially if you're logging in via a sinkie ISP. Sign ups offset my hosting fees.

This forum isn't a country. You are not a citizen of an internet forum. You sign up on a voluntary basis and click that you agree to abide by the rules when you sign up. If you don't like the way the forum is run, you can simply not log on and there are plenty of other forums available. It's like a retail store in real life. You shop there by choice not by compulsion. If the prices are ridiculous or the service is crap, you can take your business somewhere else.

Singapore, on the other hand, is YOUR country. It does not belong to the PAP. They have no right to ask you to leave especially if citizenship is your birthright and you have no other options.

When I ask you to leave, all I'm doing is offering you advice. At the end of the day, it's your choice and since you're still around and still free to say whatever you want here, I guess there is still something about the forum that makes you continue your stay.

I should be thankful that this little red dot of a forum is kept alive in a sea of tight internet policing.

I'm honestly very puzzled when members such as yourself complain about moderation. This forum isn't moderated. Everyone can post their opinions about ANYTHING under the sun. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and you can see for yourself that there is a complete spectrum of controversial issues including religious and racial slurs which would have been removed from just about any other sinkie forum.

Preventing spam isn't "moderation". It's housekeeping. Nobody wants to see page after page of adverts for penis enlargement pills and viagra/cialis on a daily basis. I therefore have to devise schemes to keep these sorts of messages out of the forum or remove them as quickly as possible when they do appear.

Same goes with pictures of toilet bowls full of shit and videos of horses fucking each other 10,000 pixels wide.

think you should start selling reputation points and infraction powers to maintain forum costs. bet they sell well to the select group.

Now that the forum has matured, I have adjusted the parameters to reflect the fact that many people have posted hundreds of messages.

one red card on 14th Nov 2010 means someone deducted your points which simply means that they disagree with you. It doesn't mean you have done anything wrong. 1 point was deducted.

The next day however there were two of your posts which received green cards with 7 points each which means that you lost one point but gained 14 points within a space of 48 hours. That's a net gain of 13 points.

That's exactly how the rep system is supposed to work. As long as the majority like your posts, your points will increase over time. It doesn't mean that you'll have nothing but additions and no subtractions but as long as there are more people who support your viewpoints than there are who disagree, you'll end up with an ever increasing score.
