Critic of Asia Economic Miracle won Nobel Prize!

Personally, it is very disappointing that the Nobel Prize Committee chose him over many other current gifted economists to win. The decision is regrettable, even though Krugman is a respectable economist, but not really the most outstanding economist.

what prize do you have? long service awards?

Mr. Tharman was not a candidate I had in mind. While he may be competent in economic theories and economic policy implementation, his lack of a PhD qualification puts him at a disadvantage for consideration to win the prize.

his shiny head is an advantage or disadvantage??:D

I happen to have a lot of agreements with Krugman, Joseph Slitigiz, and Jeffrey Sachs in terms of economics.

So to see him win the Nobel for economics is excellent. He deserves our congratulations.

my alma mater won at last!

robertson hall...ahh those were the days

congratulations prof krugman!

He is just trying to tell you he was from Princeton, an ivy leaguer. It does necessarily tell you his qualifications or quality of his qualifications. If he starts to display them in this forum, perhaps your accusations of him boasting would be appropriate.

I was the janitor there.

used to wake up everyday 7am and clean robertson hall.

I am not surprised that he won the nobel price.
His views has been very consistent, most of the time spot on
and he speaks his mind without fear. Most economist are half
baked retracting their theory when things changes.

do you know where's the article he published that won him the prize?

It wasn't a New York Times column. It was a bunch of research stuff he did that was published in economical journals which led him to win. Top class economists always write long long thesis that are published by world class journals, and consistently being updated by the individual economists.

Prof. Krugman is only more well known than most of his peers because he's a regular columnist for a long time. In the 90s, he wrote for Forbes, while still being a liberal. In 2000 onwards, he writes for New York Times as a paid columnist, demonstrating his understanding for politics and social policies. His fellow peers just write for outside journals and for their internal business school journals within the universities.

So they aren't as famous.

Oh btw, Prof. Krugman has a very post at Princeton. He's now occupying the same post as Ben Berkanke, even though both are ideologically opposite.

A potential replacement for Bernanke if Obama wins?
