110-year-old man wants to wed again
ALOR SETAR: A man who claimed to be 110 years old in Kedah said he is lonely and wishes to marry again.
Mr Ahmad Md Isa has been married five times before, with four of the women now dead and the fifth divorced by him, Utusan Malaysia newspaper reported yesterday.
Mr Ahmad, who likes to chew on betel leaves, said a wife would remove the cobwebs of loneliness at his home in Kampung Alor Mengkudu in Alor Setar, the capital of northern Kedah state. He is being looked after by his 64-year-old daughter Fatimah.
'It is lonely living alone, and I am scared sleeping alone at home,' said the man. The newspaper did not mention his occupation as a young man.
Mr Ahmad is healthy although he is short-sighted and his hearing is weak. He has five children, 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Asked what qualities he is looking for in a wife, Mr Ahmad told Utusan: 'I have been living alone for nearly a year and do not have any set criteria for a wife.' He added with a laugh: 'It is good if she is (about) the same age as myself but if she is young, I will be more than happy to accept.'
His granddaughter, Ms Shafinaz Wan Shaban, 33, said Mr Ahmad likes to regale his family with old stories. She said he might be lonely because all the adults go out to work.
And the secret to his longevity? 'I ate everything that my children and wives offered but I do not eat the internal organs of animals.'
