Recently our beloved msm has been extremely quiet. Great pains seem to have been taken to ensure that there are no news worthy political items in the news. As such popular socio-polical sites like SBF have very quiet.

This is empirical evidence to support the Dec election hypothesis. Recent experience has shown that when a news worthy political event occurs, the msm usually fails to contain it and spin it in the way their political masters want it to be spun. Instead cyberspace tends to take it over and spin it in such a way as to damage the PAP.

As such in the run up to the elections, the strategy now is to report only news of a non-politcal nature so that bloggers will have less things to "shoot" PAP.

They screw up so much lately for Singapore. WKS has just been demoted. Everything going up and up and they still enjoy their million dollar salary and the salary of their ppl is going down south. He still has the aducity to announce carbon tax. You think the election will be on 2010 Dec ...

date has been shift !

December 2010? perhaps we could wait a lil' longer till mid March in 2011 :D:D:D

There is no longer enough time for a december election.

Most likely date after budget 2011.

More likely wait another year, 2012. Many opposition candidates and supporters are wishing for GE a.s.a.p. and therefore fit all kinds of theories into their wishful thoughts that there'd be GE a.s.a.p. Time for reality check. No ruling party with 95% of Parliament can ever be forced to call early election, especially under so-called bad situation or discontent, especially when their opponents are a plate of scattered sand. They can take their time, plenty at hand, to fix the problems all the way to the constitutionally required date. That's strategically wiser as proven, as given more time, the opposition has always proven to be able to self-destruct by infighting. The worst PAP showing was in 1991 when GCT called a quick GE without himself stably on the PM seat and in control of Parliament and Cabinet.

Think I can agree with you. Time also allows wounds to heal, acting as a balm to soothe and make pple forget things long ago. So PAP will just release a number of soothies and material goodies - crowing about the shorter queue for flats and lower housing prices, etc - nearer the GE. with people having a short memory, chances are good that the PAP can get away with what the evil they have done in the past.

Elections are very close, could be held anytime within the next 3-6 months, think the big majority of swing voters have already decided who to vote for already. Whatever PAP do from now to polling day won't change their mindset that are fixed for this GE.

Only a small percentage of the electorate haven't decided yet.

If old man kicks the bucket, PAP might just use it to win sympathy votes or to instil fear of the unknown into the populace and to get them to rally behind PAP.
