KNN..... destroy a nice gardan to build a ramp...then block the ram with metal barricade and put a stone table there so ramp cannot be use....KNNPCB...then build this ramp for fuck??!!!:oIo: KNN hong kah town council must be the most stupidiest town council in singapore....:oIo::oIo::oIo::oIo::oIo:

They got rid of garden to build concrete ramp -- for what?

This ramp doesn't serve any purpose, says STOMPer Ang Kong Kia, who wonders why the Hong Kah Town Council removed a resident's 'private garden' to build a ramp.

It's not a handicap access ramp and neither is it a staircase, says the STOMPer.

The ramp is also blocked by a metal barricade and a seat.

The STOMPer says:

"The resident's 'private garden' of more than 15 years has been removed.

"The turf was then restored at the bottom of this HDB block in Hong Kah.

"But then, a new structure was built.

"It is not a staircase and neither is it a handicap access ramp.

"Can someone tell what purpose it serves?"

There should be an investigation on this. Obviously a contract was awarded using Tax Payer's money for whose benefit?

Some friends or cronies sake?

That is why I always emphasize the need to scrutinize them in the payouts
of contracts to built useless facilities to local or Malaysia contractors .

That they may enjoy some amenities in Malaysia .

to get from the lower section to the higher section?

Re: Town council corruption at it's worst - Building useless installation

Serves no useful purpose; no practical value. Whose idea? Money goes down the drain!

Re: Town council corruption at it's worst - Building useless installation

This is not corruption. This is incompetence

Re: Town council corruption at it's worst - Building useless installation

Simple. Hong kan town council see stomper's private garden buay song.

Re: Town council corruption at it's worst - Building useless installation

Which ministar is in charge of that place?

Rcee member: Oh.... actually hor... it is a fitness corner with an obstacle course.:)
graslooters: yah...yah...we agree. We make use of it every evening, very goood.

Re: Town council corruption at it's worst - Building useless installation

This is what i think:
Before the change, the steep slope is grass patch. During rainy days, soil and grass will be washed into the drain directly below causing blockage (maybe mosquito breeding). If the situation is bad, the ground below the walkway may even hollow out, weakening the concrete pavement. Thus the concrete surfacing to hold the slope and allowing water to flow.

Re: Town council corruption at it's worst - Building useless installation

The ramp and the barrier are ideal for a bicycle extreme sports stunt.
Perhaps Irene can organize a competiton to welcome and integrate the foreigners who love to cycle.
Her scottish husband can be the judge.

Re: Town council corruption at it's worst - Building useless installation

Assuming that being the objective. Just build concrete risers height of one brick, along the length of the drain on the side nearest to the slope to prevent muddy water from flowing into the drain also can what.:o

More concrete area, higher possibility for floods.:)

Yes, they also built the kerb along the drain together with the concrete slope, as you can see in the picture.
Anyway, we won't know how bad was the soil erosion situation before the change, to justify for the concrete surfacing of the slope. :D

Re: Town council corruption at it's worst - Building useless installation

No matter how bad the soil erosion (assuming there is soil erosion), building a concrete slope is never the solution. Just reinforce the slope and allow water to seep into the soil.

Lets not reengineer an excuse for the obstacle course.:D No amount of engineering can prevent flooding,:) But we can prevent soil errosion by replacing soil with concrete.....sigh.

That is the only point I was making. :D

btw
Just reinforce the slope and allow water to seep into the soil.
this is technically contradictory.
