Upgrading project made drains smaller: Is this why floods worsened?

The STOMPer feels this is due to the drains which were made smaller as part of the upgrading project.

Said the STOMPer (Dec 3):

"Two pictures (taken on 29 Nov 2010) show a tremendous flow of water despite PUB's efforts to add another parallel drain.

"In the 1980s, there was a flood that reached to the first step of the second-last house.

"For recent floods, the water reaches to at least the third step of that house and even progresses to several other houses ahead.

"The upgrading project makes the drain shallower and narrower as compared to the past.

"The smaller drains have also become shallower.

"I cannot understand the purpose of the upgrade as this is the valley and drains have become smaller.

"The third picture (taken on 2 Dec 2010) shows a car in the flood.

"Can repair costs be claimed due to the poor upgrading?

"Is our money put to good use?"

STOMPer Lim was among many affected by the deep waters along the Keppel Expressway.

He sent in this video to show the extent to which the Tampines exit has been flooded, adding that much needs to be done to help the draining system on Singapore roads.

Lim says:

"Heavy showers resulted in flooding at the exit to Tampines road from KPE!

"Are we ready for the next flood?

"PUB needs to upgrade our drainage system across to handle effects of global warming".

STOMPer Rashpal also noted floods at Tampines Street 81 which started slightly before noon. He says:

"I've attached some photos showing a flash flood at Tampines Street 81/ Avenue 3 junction which begun at about 11.45am, today."

Likewise, the chalets in the east side were also not spared.

"Downtown East chalet 2nd floor flood," said STOMPer kei in his contribution.

drainage have always been bad in seletar. old place, fucking ulu. bit surprised tampines got flooded though.

wahlaneh...
it is not realistic to prevent flood during heavy rain.:D

With influx of foreign invaders welcomed by PAP, and the 1 in 50 years freaky events of constant flood (now affecting our defend forces) that PAP has no solution. I fear Singapore defend might not hold its ground for long. All these are perfect combinations of security danger facing local Singaporeans. Something is not right, but greed will blind those in power.

... "This happened after the heavy downpour at Seletar Camp.

"As of 3.45pm today, the water level is still rising. ...
ah hean din go seletar camp, ah? ... how cum he din cum out n kpkb? ...
