Power failure at Bukit Panjang LRT: Commuters forced to walk on tracks

people_spotted_walking_on_train_tracks_power_failure_at_bukit-thumbnail.jpg

On first glance, it seemed like people were taking a walk -- on the train tracks. According to STOMPer rachel, this was due to a power failure at the Bukit Panjang LRT.

The STOMPer sent in the photo at 4.15pm today (Nov 30):

"Power failure at Bukit Panjang LRT," she said.

hi there

1. honest, it was not some rainy day.
2. walking on exposed tracks above ground level is pretty dangerous.
3. lightning strike high!

the "3rd" rail has extremely high voltage. morons who go on tracks and accidentally touch the 3rd rail get fried.

I'm surprised that they allowed (or made) passengers to walk on the track like that. I thought in this kind of mid-track stoppage, they should either:

- call SCDF to help the passengers out that the place of stoppage, or

- get the tow-train to tow the broken-down train to the next nearest station.

It's a power failure. I doubt the 3rd rail is electrified.
Anyway, it is still not safe just to let so many people walk on track.
What happens if the power comes on suddenly?

do you see that 3rd rail that stands up vertical next to the two rails flat on the tracks? for a 2-way track, there are two 3rd rails, which mean double jeopardy, double cooked.

yup. that's the catch-22.

Don't worry. If someone don't know how to walk on track properly and carefully, slip and fall onto 3rd rail and get fried, the coroner can always return a misadverture verdict.

may also be classified as vandalism for staining the tracks with barbeque sauce.

Than Lee Hsien Loong will said "What to do, it has happened, let's move on!" Followed immediately by Raymond Lim: "You want better service, we will up GST and don't blame us!". After they upped GST, Lim Swee say will say "Everytime I see my bank statement, I feel so rich!!"

Well, hope they don't send a LRT rumbling along and sever these people's legs.
