Sin Chew Daily reported that a 25-year-old woman in Singapore was not spared from being raped even after she offered to pay the perpetrator to let her go.

Chinese national Dai Yun Fatt, 32, admitted in a Singapore court on Monday to raping the woman between 11pm on Sept 8 last year and 12.30am the following day.

Dai dragged the woman to nearby bushes near the Ayer Rajah Expressway.

The victim pleaded with him to let her go and offered him her mobile phone as well as cash.

But why spend an addition HALF AN HOUR in the SAME PLACE as the rapist looking for her personal belongings?

Then again, it could also be prc absurd logic in play. I'll like to believe that the victim is closer to the middle of the logic spectrum, while her attacker is right at the end.

I'm not trying to sound insensitive towards a person who has suffered such trauma ... but this statement about handphone really smacks of absurd PRC logic as u put it.

She can always change her h/p number, and if her friends are really her friends, no one will fault her running away from the scene immediately. I'm sure what she means to say is that she's worried her friends may get prank calls and get harassed over the phone, but that's pretty calm thought processes coming from a person who claims to have been raped.

She must be one hell of a calm woman. Gotta give that to her.

A 32-YEAR-OLD Chinese national who dragged a woman into some bushes in a deserted area, then raped her, was jailed 16 1/2 years and ordered to be caned 20 strokes. Prosecutors told the High Court that Dai Yunfa's 25-year-old victim, also a Chinese national, has been deeply traumatised by the attack.

'The accused had callously violated the sanctity of the victim's body after forcibly dragging her to a deserted wooded area, leaving her with painful physical and emotional scars,' said Deputy Public Prosecutor Chua Ying-hong. The victim, who came here to work in 2008 and holds a white-collar job, cannot be named.

The DPP said that the woman, who has never had a boyfriend, is now worried that her future partner may have misgivings about her if he finds out she had been raped; she is also fearful that her employer may not extend her two-year contract.

On the night of Sept 8 last year, she was accosted by Dai while walking home from a bus stop in the Jurong area along the Ayer Rajah Expressway. She begged him to let her go, offering him her mobile phone and money, asking him to visit a prostitute instead and even offering him oral sex. But he ignored her pleas and threatened to kill her.
