Vincent Cheng: ISA victims must speak out

mine is moderate, term psychological imprisonment. Try it and you will know what I meant.

At a Buangkok IMH consultation room...

IMH Dr. : You know where's this place?

Krafty Hotbot : Sure, this is ISD Whitley interrogation room.

IMH Dr. : You know who am I?

Krafty Hotbot : Sure, you're ISD Director.

IMH Dr. : You know where you're here for?

Krafty Hotbot : Sure, for detention without trial.

IMH Dr. : (Turning to his nurse) Put a straitsjacket on this guy and put him in a padded cell, solitary.

In 1987 when the news first hit me, I was like Jesus where does it comes from?

The communist has long gone, China has already embrace market economy. The Soviet union was disintegrating under Gorbachev, the cold war is no longer a threat to the divide.

And here in Singapore we are charging a small unarm group with the Marxist conspiracy?

Have we loses our common sense? I didn't even followup the news, it's pure bull.

Correct mah. Only Silvercox wants to hear the other side of the story.

Should Mas Selamat be allowed to walk free today? He didn't bomb any mrt stations or anywhere in Singapore.

Why was Vincent Cheng singled out and being arrested and being beaten to confession and not you, not me or anyone else?

Dont confuse yourself, Mas Selamat and Vincent Cheng are two different person detained for different reasons. One preaches and practices violence, seeks to kill and destroy while another seeks to help other in their betterment, there a great difference in their cause

As far as media information goes, Mas Selamat is suspected to be involved in terrorist activities and there're intel that he and JI had plans to bomb MRT and other areas in the island. Terrorist had no regards for human life, their cause is only to kill, they should burn in hell. This I will not disagree he remains in jail perhaps charge in court if not detain under a provision that specifically handles terrorism.

Again as far as media info goes, Vincent Cheng was not singled out, there were 21 others. These people were peacefully trying to help others, there were no harmful activities involve, there were no evidence of anyone inciting violence, unrest or anything detrimental to anyone or the nation.

Literally there were never any wrong doings, just the old fart being fearful and phobic that he sees it as conspiracy and have them detain since there's no case as far as the law is concerned. It's injustice and they deserve the right to seek redress.

There were 50+ unlawful protesters jamming up the Orchard-Scotts junction for a whole afternoon from lunchtime to dinnertime, when the order to arrest was finally issued without any other choice to restore order. 20+ were arrested and the rest dispersed. Vincent Cheng was alleged to be their ringleader. Francis Seow acted as their defence lawyer, he was later arrested too.

What happen to the rest, will they release?
There was 1 woman lawyer ,Miss Teo soh Luan arrested together with the group.
Does anyone know what happen to her, she has a legal firm in Geylang prior to her arrest.

All were subsequently released, including Vincent Cheng and Francis Seow. Francis' release was the most dramatic as he challenged LKY to release him to contest election, in reply to LKY saying that the legal profession shouldn't be involved in politics unless they wanted to stand for election. LKY did release him and he did contest the election, scoring 49%.

Whether they were marxist conspirators as said by authorities, we should all put 1 side 1st.

If by just educating low income workers on their rights and training them to take their cases to authorities thru proper means should not get anyone detained under ISD. There must be other reasons (which we do not know) as to why those few were targeted but not revealed. (So far the only reason said was they were marxist conspirators.)

We have heard the authorities explanation, and we should hear what Vincent cheng did beyond educating low income workers on their rights.

Even Malik who was arrested for his "burn" comments was not detained for a year neither beaten up to admit he was a radical.

We must be objective in everything we read.

I remember even the church were ask to make statement on their stand about Vincent and the groups arrest.

With heinous regimes like Old man's, what's the use of a dead hero who cannot tell tales?

You must be an idiot to fight LKY on the level. From which Tora Bora cave did you emerge?

If Old Man had been as honest as he wants others to be, he wld be amongst the mass graves in the Sook Ching massacre and not repressing innocents with the law.

For someone who conspires to put everything under a regime to call a potential threat a Marxist conspirator, that sounds really like a Qin Shi Wang epic :D

The bull worked wonders in 1965, and got up to 20 men incarcerated. Why reinvent the wheel when it works?

The authorities will only release statements to justify their action, details they will classify it.

If you have time to spare I dont think it's really that difficult to approach Vincent Cheng personally for his version of the story just to convince yourself of any hidden facts, that's if you bother.

The authorities will release statements to justify their actions, likewise Vincent will release his version to justify what the authorities did was wrong.

Thats why I said we must be objective.

Do you seriously think educating workers on their rights (just this alone) will carry a serious crime of marxist conspiracy?

I didn't see the actual investigation report, but what I gathered was, Vincent was accused of abusing his church leadership position to incite church workers to join in the protest with "Marxist" ideologies that Singapore law was unfair and oppressive to poor people. Although Francis was arrested when he acted as their defence counsel, the accusation against him was different. He was accused of representing foreign interests in domestic politics.

There was no crime, let alone serious crime to begin with. He was detain without trial, that's the injustice he's trying to seek redress.

Had it been a crime, a case of so called marxist conspiracy then he should be charge in a court of law. Everything will be out in the proceedings if there ever was a trial, truths, lies, facts and substances. You wont have to be wondering if he is holding back anymore.

In the 1980s it was not uncommon to find workers being exploited and abused by their employers, some getting paid as little as $4.40 for eight hours of work. The PAP Government did nothing about this. One man tried to address this situation by working to empower these workers. He was Vincent Cheng.

I demand an explanation from the PAP. $4.40 during the time of Cheng's arrest was a King's ransom for cleaners etc. Why was this COMMUNIST released? He should have been tried for treason and hung!

Ok, I rephrase my question then.

Do you seriously think educating workers on their rights (just this alone) will cause them to be detained without trial for marxist conspiracy?
