Every GE, it’s always a disappointment to see PAP walks away with the majority votes however hard the alternative parties work on the ground !

Voters especially the locals will never learn unless they see their coffins right infront of them.

Next GE, alternative parties should join force and work together, have a common language after a hard day’s work !

Politely tell the voters that if again, PAP wins the majority next GE , it shows that Singaporeans only want one party rule !
This can also interpret that voters will let PAP decide the costly living standard, big population, crowded island, hefty housing price, etc.
Local voters love to be warned politely with facts and figures. Why not take this chance ?

Tell the voters that alternative parties will have more say if at least 30 to 40 true members are voted into the parliament !
Pls also tell voters --politics is everything in singapore , ERP, COV, COE, fees and charges ……to name a few .

All alternative parties may want to try this, because , next GE, it may be the last chance to save Singapore !

Every voter has a responsibility and accountable to the country interest , and not just township upgrading and pork money !

Alternative parties should target the voters next GE , avoid small –man bickering with the PAP juntas !

Indirectly tell the voters that there is no point for any alternative party to stick around and speak up for them if voters prefer to be subjugated by PAP

Only the voters can change Singapore , they are the ones who create a Tom-dick-Harry singapore today !

Good luck alternative parties, may the force be with you.

Quite true, every GE is like boxing ring, whoever drops, the audience cheers the victors .

Oppo should try to target the voters, make them participate in the coming GE !

It is the majority voters that are causing all the stupid problems !

The adoption of the term 'alternative' shows Oppositions do not want to be seen as 'opposing' PAP. The fellow who coined this term has fallen into the trap of PAP by playing to the PAP tune of 'constructive Oppositions'.

In other words, the term 'alternative' means 'I'm a constructive opposition just like LTK and CST.

The term Alternative Parties emerged sometime between GE 2001 and 06. One of the pioneer coiners of the term was Alex Au (Yawningbread). If you know anything about alternative lifestyle and sexual orientation, I'm sure it's not hard to work out the ones and zeros of alternatives.

Politically in practical terms, there's no such thing as alternative party in Singapore. No other party is big and capable enough to take over government from PAP yet. There's no alternative.

I dislike the term alternative party.

The duty of an opposition party is to oppose what has gone wrong with the current government.

The term alternative took hold amongst some quarters as some folk felt that it is not as harsh a word as "opposition" and so would appeal to the middle ground. Well the middle group ain't gonna vote for you just because of your choice of words.

In contemporary Chinese, the terms Ruling Party and Opposition are translated as 执政党 and 反对党 respesctively. However, in Japanese Meiji Restoration and early ROC eras, the Chinese term for Opposition was 在野党, meaning party-at-large. This term is still used interchangeably with the term Opposition in Japan and Taiwan.

Cool.

..........

alternative or oppo----not the issue right !

message is to tell the people who contest PAP may tell voters one party rule will be hell in future.
and some more, if voters still so stubborn, since they like to be tortured, then might as well no more oppo or alter party right !

i see the Cheese in your story!

The opposition are full of hot air. The first thing they should promise to do is to cut ministers' salaries by at least 50% if they get voted in to form the government. This is the easiest way to deliver an immediate and visible outcome to the voters instead of promising to do this and do that.

Shouldn't it literally mean party-at-wild or party in the wilderness?
How does 在野 translated to English become at large?

It'll be like asking them to lie naked in bed with a supermodel, but cannot touch or look.

The opposition has to start to recognize this reality, Singaporeans are kiasi and kiasu. If you are seen to be rocking the boat then they will stick to the time tested formula even though they keep getting anal there after. The reality is the PAP is not going to lose their 2/3 majority or the opposition is going to come anywhere near to threaten them on their majority in the next election. Everything takes time to change. But what is achievable is for the opposition to unite and fight on a common platform and not bickering and getting at each other throat. The people are sick of all these bickering. Its those scum throat that the opposition should be going for. Singapore is too small to be having so many different parties.

The chances of the opposition mounting a serious threat and winning at least one GRC and a couple of SMC is achievable. The only way to that is to mount a strong front and attack the scums at their weakest GRC and that is a GRC fronted by a minister that holds a insignificant post. One that is seen by the people that if lost does not amount to shaking the current ruling party hold on power.

This is the reality, Singaporeans still wants to be anal by the ruling party but at least those scum stranglehold on the nation can be broken through a few elections.
