Can make unlimited calls to various countries with VOIP

Google Voice is better

U don't have to stay at your PC

I have skype installed on my iphone.

It's improved now. You don't have to depend on wifi solely to make calls cos i think they removed the restriction already.

Btw how are google voice's rates?

There's no connection fee for Google voice, Skype still have right?

https://www.google.com/voice/rates

It's free calls to any US number

hmm i think skype dun have but might have soon. I'm not sure cos skype always comes up with new plans and features.

Anyway i have signed unto the monthly world unlimited plan and i have free unlimited calls to the US on landlines and cell phones.

Depends on your usage

I don't exceed $2 per month so no point subscribing to a monthly plan.

alamak google voice now only opened for selected users in the USA.

They don't have a special app for the iphone yet. Must use browser to access it. Alamak how can this be better than skype?

oic it's cos sometimes i call the cell phones of users in various countries and they are usually more expensive than landlines.

Omg you are one of those..........

Yeah sure with the iphone4 recently lauched. What a joke.

Go try an android phone first.. I recommend Samsung Captivate

Anyway I was exaggerating. But lots of my friends have switched over here.

I was thinking of that htc evo.

Oh well anyway not sure if i will get iphone 4.

if both caller and called parties sign up for skype, it's free with video telephony (and voip) service. but the quality is based on best effort. paid unlimited calls to any number including wireline and wireless has a better qos rating.

Actually this is true for any internet messenger service. You can also communicate on voice on msn messenger.

I'm talking about phone calls to landlines and mobile phones.

Skype unlimited also includes sg home phones and mobile numbers in it. So you can make many free calls in sg too but i guess since many ppl have so many types of plans around it doesn't matter.

Wow u promoting some old technology as new!

I think the unlimited calls to other countries and even in sg phone lines is new. In the past there were rates.

If anyone has something new with unlimited calls pls state it.

Are skype calls to sg phone lines free? Blimey! I didn't know that.

You pay a fixed rate per month which isn't ex at all and you get unlimited phone calls to 40 countries and yes sg is among the countries. Free phone calls to land and mobile lines and it's a pte number too obviously.

On PCs and laptops, when you have finished yr calls, you shld quit skype so it wont stay open. If it is open, it can end up as a super-node, as I have posted bf on some other thread. Once yr phone or conecting node becomes a supernode, other Skype calls traffic can be routed thru yr account, tho not nec. So with yr cellphone, be aware as well. Otw, you'll chalk up and exceed yr bandwidth and pay thru yr nose.
