I've noticed that the local networks have been showing a very young LKY making many of his past speeches.

This is the year 2010 & they are only showing LKY & not the current PM, LHL.
They don't even want to show the current 'old' LKY, but showing a "younger" version of LKY.

Some may not think this is important, but if you have a leader looking at the past how is he going to look ahead

Some say...b4 a person up lorry...his entire life will flash past b4 him...maybe it's a omen of sumsort leh...:D:D:p

LKY misses the glory of the old days.. why can't the old man retire like everyone else?

The solution is very simple.
Don't follow.

He said that at his age, he may have aches and pains but he can keep going (thinking of the monies?) :D

He said that there should be no retirement age for workers. Just because he refuse to retire, it shouldn't be the case for others. Some workers really look forward to retirement.

He is 86-years old, if he live till 100-years, there will be another 14 years of Leekapore.

I guess the millions keep him going.

He will earn my respect if he works for free. Then I know he is genuine.

And he can afford to work for free because he should be a billionaire by now after the decades of million dollar pay cheques.

Since he is so old and with billions in his bank account, he don't really need the SM salary now.

So far, he still take the million dollar paycheques, so I think it is all for the money.

Don't get people's hopes up :D

Many are still waiting to pop their bottles for the gecko's big day.

LKY may live until a 100 but I bet many in the PAP will wish him gone when more floods & loses hit Spore

If your argument is true then maybe that's the reason why the government in China banned any leanings towards Taoism as they felt faith encouraged looking into the past more. :D:rolleyes:

Personally I believe the past is important as it is what makes the present as well as the future. The good things we try to bring forth, and the bad things we try not to repeat.

Looks like a lot of people I have come across, both male and female especially those who also claim to be educated are stupid to not realise this.

About past and future, LKY himself has once said of the following:

'The past is relevant if it teaches us something about the future'

$1 billion bonds sale..

Selling F&N to Kirin

Selling Singapore Power to China companies

They are either in debt or planning to scoop up some deals

The past is of course important.

A leader is suppose to learn from his mistakes & grow in wisdom so that can he can lead. It took him all these decades before he even recognised problems with the language policy

If he won't even admit to any errors & still insist in living in the past, we are all screwed , so too are future generations. It's unlikely Spore can regain the lost decades, while we all wait around for the old man to up the lorry.

Spore has been bleeding Sporeans for years. Even the PAP label of "quitters" is a denial on the PAPs part that there are problems in paradise.

It will be interesting to see how the PAP collapses over the years: Spore going bankrupt, the old man ups the lorry, his growing senility, fed up Sporeans kicking the old man, revolution,...

.

He should also return the GIC money, stocks and other benefits too. He got peanuts working as a minister, but get real benefits working as the CEO of the GIC investment companies.

or they are buying new allies. if more foreign companies have stakes in Sg industries/businesses, this translates into more "friendship miles" with the owning country.

we can't just rely on US of A for help. especially now with a 'hostile' democrat president who isn't fond of our pro-republican PAP.
