So many mosquitoes! I haven't been able to open my windows for the past 2 months

A construction site near my home contains many puddles and is breeding mosquitoes, says STOMPer Bernard. He has written in to the NEA (National Environment Agency) more than once, and is infuriated that they have not yet taken any steps to resolve the problem.

The STOMPer said:

"As is emphasised frequently, the breeding of mosquitoes is illegal - one should not have flower pots that hold stagnant water, or he will get fined.

"I recently sent this photo to the NEA, urging them for their assistance in investigating the situation and in improving our neighbourhood.

"There has not been a single piece of news or reply from any one in the agency.

"Is this their way of working - by not responding to people who write to them when in need? Are we supposed to wait until dengue fever becomes widespread in our estate?

"A good example is the situation that happened in Cairnhill recently.

"Only after several people were diagnosed with dengue, did the NEA team send in troops to check out the area.

"Isn't that a little too late?

"It seems like the NEA has a lot of time to catch litterbugs and the like. Why don't they check residential estates and construction sites instead?

"The recent weather (heavy rain) could have caused big puddles containing stagnant water in some of these areas.

"I have not been able to keep my windows open for the last one to two months because I have not had the time to capture a picture of the mosquito breeding grounds, near my home, to send to the authorities.

"If you take a good look at this shot, you can see that there is so much water in huge puddles within the construction site.

"My family and I stay on the 7th floor in Diamond Tower, just next to the construction site which is beside a Chinese temple in Jalan Rajah.

"I do not know the exact address of the construction site - there are plans for a new park or mall to be built on that land.

"Over the past several weeks, people have begun to see more and more mosquitoes in the lobby area of our apartment.

"Even our Sri Lankan maid is having problems washing our car.

"With the recent heavy showers, water has been continually collecting in dents and temporary man-made drains at the site.

"These pools of water are stagnant, and are therefore most likely the primary cause for the breeding of mosquitoes."

STOMPer alienboy was enjoying a bowl of wanton noodles at the coffeeshop opposite Block 417 at Woodlands Street 41 when he found an insect in his meal.

The STOMPer issues this warning:

"I do not know how that particular store was rated 'B' for its hygiene. Please beware!!"

On top of 3 tomb stone means gone also lah..... liao lah....:p

Well, I thought NEA only ignore political parties like NSP... now I know they even ignore other individuals just like that.

No reply to inquiries seems to be their SOP!
