# Elderly Man, 78, Found Dead at Foot of Yishun HDB Block, Police Rule Out Foul Play

A 78-year-old man was found dead at the foot of a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block in Yishun on Sunday afternoon (Jul. 5).

The incident took place at Block 800 Yishun Ring Road, where emergency services were called after reports of a person lying motionless near the residential block.

Police have since stated that no foul play is suspected based on preliminary investigations, although inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

## Body Discovered Near Lift Lobby

Photos circulating online showed a police tent erected at the void deck of the block. The area surrounding the scene was cordoned off while officers conducted investigations.

According to eyewitness accounts, the deceased was found near Lift B at the ground floor of the block. Several police officers were also seen at the location as investigations proceeded.

One resident told local media that she did not recognise the man and did not believe he was a resident of the block, although authorities have not released further details regarding his identity or connection to the area.

## Emergency Services Responded on Sunday Afternoon

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it received a report of a fall from height at approximately 2pm on Jul. 5.

Upon arrival, officers found the 78-year-old man lying motionless at the foot of the block.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed it received a call for assistance at around 2.05pm. Despite efforts to assess the situation, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

Police subsequently classified the case as an unnatural death and commenced investigations in accordance with standard procedures.

## Investigations Ongoing

While authorities have not disclosed additional information about the circumstances leading up to the incident, they stated that preliminary findings do not indicate any criminal involvement.

Investigators are expected to continue gathering information and reviewing available evidence as part of the ongoing inquiry.

The incident has drawn attention from residents in the neighbourhood, with several expressing shock after noticing the police presence and cordoned-off area beneath the block.

Cases involving unattended deaths or falls from height are routinely investigated by police to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Those experiencing emotional distress or struggling with mental health challenges are encouraged to seek support from family members, trusted friends, healthcare professionals, or appropriate support services.

Shitty Times article insinuates 'reason unknown' then puts a small paragraph about mental help at the end.

Shameless media, deplorable country.

Could be mercy killing . couldn't bear the pain he was suffering from and not worth spending whatever is left on medical.
