Racism? Why are we being gaslighted for the busted and flawed immigration policies by our government?
Discussion
The problem isn't racism, it's systemic economic anxiety.
We the local-born population, Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian Singaporeans alike, perceive ourselves becoming an underclass in our own economy, and that triggers deep identity threat. Dismissing this as xenophobia is intellectually dishonest. Every mature democracy grapples with this tension. Our government must open such honest conversation harmoniously.
The CECA community is not exactly the main nor only problem. They are the more visible face of invisible policy failures. Banning speech without fixing the underlying conditions doesn't produce harmony it produces pressurised resentment that eventually finds more destructive expression.
We Singaporeans have always been warm and welcoming people, always has been. I say again, always has been. We are cosmopolitan in nature. But if you take away our jobs, overtax us and gaslight us for your policy failures, we wonder how our children are going to survive in the future.
This is only the tip of the cow turd that we have step into. I suggest the Ministers start addressing Joblessness, Immigration and Education Reforms, and Open Constructive Dialogue Channels with genuine intention to solve these critical challenges. And stop GASLIGHTING us Singaporeans for your own policies F*ckups.
