It is also an investment on a freehold home, and not 99-year-lease. My wife and I managed to upgrade out of our HDB by our early 30s. It is far more difficult for young PMET couples to do so nowadays.

Because of the kind of people the PAP regime is bringing in, and the way newer BTO flats are being constructed, sometimes it might be more prudent to buy a private home, if you can afford it. For personal protection.
