This high SES member of Raffles Town Club sits with both feet up on the sofa at the lounge or foyer, plays loud music and talks loudly on his mobile phone in spite of being in the midst of other club members. Back in 1996, it was represented that RTC would be “premier” and “exclusive”. The membership drive resulted in 19,048 members signing up, making it the largest social club in S'pore. This number was never disclosed to members until litigation between the current and former shareholders of RTC. The disclosure led almost 5,000 members of the Club to commence a class action against RTC in 2001, claiming it was in breach of contract in failing to provide a “premier” and “exclusive” club. Damages for the loss of amenities suffered by the members as a result of the Club having too many members were assessed at $3,000 for each member.

For me, ACS has always been an inferior school, both academically and in sports competitions.

It certainly has a very illustrious alumni, I will give you that.

Only enrol in it if you fancy the British Protestantism heritage and vibes. Some people enjoy it, some others have a disdain for it, most are neutral about it.
