[Global Oil War 2026] Something major happening that news media is not covering

OPEC is a cartel of oil producing countries. They set the global petroleum and gas price.

UAE leaving OPEC means they will have the flexibility to export oil to whomever - China or America - at whatever price and volume they set.

Of course the other OPEC members will become UAE's market competitors.

UAE wouldn't have made this deal without some defense arrangement from either US or China. My guess is their backer is US

Israel has deployed an operational Iron Dome battery to the UAE to defend against intensive missile and drone attacks from Iran. Dozens of Israeli soldiers were stationed in the UAE to operate the system.

The Emirati price was also in Beijing a few days ago to secure deals. Abu Dhabi needs rebuilding after the Persians drone raped them.

Unlike Saudi Arabia, which often adopts a "wait-and-see" approach and maintains neutrality when facing Iranian aggression, the UAE has taken a different path. By allowing the United States to utilize its military bases, the UAE has frequently found itself a primary target for Iranian attacks.
On the first day of the ceasefire, the UAE launched a surprise attack on an Iranian island. This development follows recent reports that the UAE has permitted Israeli forces to station and operate the Iron Dome air defense system within its territory.

I know the UAE and Temasek are quite tight. So it's no surprise that they are adopting our same strategy of "relying on US for security and China for business". The oil sold to China will be denominated in Yuan.

Also, Saudi have a security pack with Pakistan ... And therefore, by extension, China. This new move could be a clever diversification strategy by the collective Gulf states

The conflict with Iran has revealed that the United States is not invincible, judging by the extent of the damage sustained by its military bases across GCC nations though it has the most advanced air defense system.
Furthermore, despite fighting defensively, Iran has demonstrated the resilience to withstand a week of relentless, nightly bombardments by U.S. and Israeli forces. They have secured a foundation for their future if the ceasefire deal followed by a peace treaty went through successfully but not before a potential 2nd wave of attack.
