san jose metro area covers the upscale cities (more like suburbs) of palo alto, los altos hills, los altos, mountain view, cupertino, sunnyvale, saratoga, los gatos. the other suburbs in san jose proper, santa clara, milpitas, almaden, campbell are midscale while southern suburbs in morgan hill, gilroy, monte sereno, san martin are more affordable.
