On Jan 23, the teenager - now 17 - pleaded guilty to one charge of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
SINGAPORE – Distraught at having her phone confiscated, a teenager at a secondary school hurt herself with a penknife before slashing two staff members.

The device had been taken from her as she was late for school and she got upset when they refused to return it to her.

On Jan 23, the teenager – now 17 – pleaded guilty to one charge of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.

A second similar charge will be taken into consideration when she is sentenced on March 4.

She cannot be identified as she was 16 at the time of the offences, and is protected under the Children and Young Persons Act.

The court heard that the student had been late for school on April 28, 2025.

When she arrived, the school’s operations manager confiscated her mobile phone before sending her to class.

During a break between lessons at 12.20pm, the girl looked for him outside the general office to ask if she could have her phone back, but he refused.

The teenager then pulled out a penknife and hurt herself with it, before slashing him on his left arm.

He called for the discipline master, who confronted her but she also slashed his arm.

The student was disarmed by another school employee and told that the police had been called. Instead of waiting at the scene, she went home, where she was arrested.

Those convicted of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon can be jailed for up to seven years, fined, or both.

During my time got boys go take chopper from the school canteen auntie when she isn’t looking, threaten and swing chopper at other student he don’t like and the teacher too. He also never go until court case.

Another case was one guy stabbed another boy outside of sch and also never go court case

The girl should have went straight to the principal when the operations manager don’t want to give her phone and say her parents gave her consent to take her phone back due to emergency family matters and the Ops manager make her life difficult and see what happens to the lowly Ops manager

Operations managers are not teachers but former regular leftovers who cannot make it in SAF and SPF

They go to schs with little power compared to the discipline masters.

No teachers will call for the police and charge the students in court for running away because the teachers are there to teach and discipline even a knife swinging one

Plus a 16 year old don’t understand why the police has to come after her over her phone so she storm off in anger and swing pen knife out of self defence from the Ops manager and DM

Clearly this 16 year old have some family issues and the Ops manager take advantage of that and make it a court case of a problematic teenager using the police to threat a 16 year old

If she have higher up parents, they would have wrote into MOE and question why wasn’t the principal informed first and to clarify the air before a police report is made when the girl is distraught and acted out of self defence and confusion

Severe warning and firm disciplinary action including disciplining the girl during public assembly and sending her to girls home. Yes.

Sec school is a place for teenagers to learn and grow. Not some military place

Exactly. The authorities should go after those adults who sold vapes to the students. All they see is quickly closing the case by lousy SPF. How will students know when they are told it is good to vape
