Lawless Wong and his shitty out of touch comment

When one stops working, doesn't he/she have more time to exercise and be mindful of their diet? Liang Po Po's logic is totally wrong.
No matter how much one has set aside after retirement, we will naturally cut back on spending after we stop enjoying a salary.

1. No Human is born out of a vacuum. Each Human came from parents, and Humans will age, due to cellular decay. It accelerates once one reaches late 50s. Where the once young elderly could run physical or shopping marathons, once they aged, they have difficulties walking even 100m carrying bags of groceries, their grown up kids would have eyes to see....Thus how are the elderly to continue working?

2. With Singapore's 1 child policy since the 80s, many parents realized the truths in it. However, the realities hit hard later - the strains not just to the lone child to support one's aging parents whom can no longer work effectively, it also causes strains to the economy to support the elderly - medcare, welfare, social and economic infrastructures, etc.,

3. PM Wong is not out of touch. He saw it clearly and thus his concern for the elderly - how are the elderly going to survive if they have no income and limited funds in their CPF retirement accounts....

It is also a reality that employers generally shun the elderly as they are no longer as efficient and productive compared to the young, and comes with medical costs born by the employer such as MCs, health insurances, etc.

Singapore is a civilized society and Nation. We do not give a bottle of water and pouch of biscuits to the elderly, and then send them into the wild forests to survive on their own, as ancient barbaric societies had done.

The elderly HAD CONTRIBUTED to our Nation when they were young, by being gainfully employed which helps our economy to grow, and much more ways of contribution.

While the elderly may have physical health issues and not as productive as a laborer, perhaps they can still engage in gig jobs that are light in nature, such as marshalling crowds like how SMRT had done, an honest and dignified job to keep their body functional - blood circulating, muscles and mental maintenance, etc, and earn some revenue, not as high as a PME, but then at their age, their needs would be lighter than most. There may be other such jobs available, with a govt agency or community centers being a place for the elderly to register themselves for such jobs, that the bright young minds within govt service such as MOM or EDB can formulate such plans.

We will leave none behind, unless they desire to be left alone.

Sadly, Nothing is free in this World.,,

..even the purest joy to a grandparent, are food, water and shelter to see grandkids eyes light up with joy thru care and concern...and such comes with revenue to pay for such..which a homeless hobo would never be able to experience...

..let alone other 'joys' to experience unless one has still the physical and mental health along with deep pockets in retirement funds thru honest work and savings....

Retirement should be a time when one is free of deadlines, meetings, targets etc. Unfortunately, it is a major life change which few are prepared for. Retirees will find boredom their greatest enemy as they strive to fill the 8 hours that work used to occupy. No hobby or pastime or time spent with other retirees can ever fill that much of every day. Reading, watching TV, exercise, walks and housework should fill up the rest of each day.

Perhaps it’s the party slogan, or maybe the members have been influenced since the day they joined.
If they have to wear all-white just to remind themselves that they must be honest, then they cannot be that above board.

SM Lee emphasized Singapore's strong confidence in China's long-term economic prospects, cautioning that dismissing the world's second-largest economy would be "unwise." He noted that China has been Singapore's top trading partner since 2013 and stressed the critical need to uphold an open, rules-based international trading system despite ongoing geopolitical tensions. At least SM Lee can do some adjustment to the "damaged" done to undone

He will say something bad about China again when he visits USA or crack some cheap jokes again about China.
