As S'pore becomes more densely populated, the constant stimulation and fast-paced lifestyle causes social overload. To cope with the sheer volume of people and interactions, we become negatively polite which is social avoidance to maintain our personal space and privacy. This leads to superficial interactions, making it difficult to form deep and meaningful relationships. The rise of technology and social media has created hundreds of online connections, which lack the depth and emotional connection of face-to-face interactions. This worsens feelings of loneliness.
