Most of us are conditioned to believe that the higher price of dining out must be accompanied by service which includes the clearing of crockery and utensils as well as the cleaning of the table.
Some of them also cannot understand lunch hour is very crowded and not enough manpower to clear the plates and tray at the collection area.

I don't know if this is true, but the security guards claim that to effectively trap monkeys, they put a plastic bag or McDonalds paper bag into the traps at another condo they used to work in inside the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
Monkeys are quite smart creatures. After a while they will realise there is a trap and they won’t go inside the trap

I remember once taking a short cut through a deserted hawker centre late at night to go home when I was a student, and was startled by the number of rats roaming on the tables and floor. Leftovers on plates and bowls were scattered on the tables and ground. Those were the days before it was mandatory to clear our own crockery and trays.
That is why it’s better to have people return their own utensils and trays because there will be some lazy people and also some cleaners who just after duty go back and don’t see the left over food and plates ppl left on the table. It’s full feast for the rats

Forested areas are where most burrows are. As a boy, I recall excavation being carried out to build apartment blocks nearby resulting in many rodents slipping into my parents' semi-detached home. The whole family was terrified by the uninvited visitors.
If they can find and get rid of the burrows then they are clear of the whole rats issue. The burrows should have very big.

I watched a CNA documentary where the NEA merely does surveillance, enforcement, public education and research related to pest control, including rats. Their officers merely covered up the entrances of burrows w/o releasing any poison into them; this is hardly effective as the rats will just burrow out somewhere else.

I recall that after the implementation of the clearing of trays at hawker centres, many diners grumbled that the price they pay for their meals should cover the cleaners' wage as well. Some diners said that they do not even have to clear their own dishes at home because they have maids, so why expect them to do so when eating out? This is why the govt had to make it mandatory.

Overseas they burn the burrows

So spoilt. I think NEA posters in Hawker centres should include photos of rats and pigeons instead so people get the message that they needs to clear their plates n utensils from the table.
