[Videos] - Why can't other countries follow Singapore's HDB system to solve their housing problems?

It is indeed difficult to see any pretty girls on our streets which makes it difficult for guys to "stand".

Even the chickens are prettier and sexier. Even the milfs of other nations girls are more better. The sharing of spouse cpf don't really work. Many will rather single because girls are given equal power. Then if divorce, guys lose out alot somore to a ugly girl.

Do you notice that when a Samster shares photos of attractive Asian girls, the first reaction of others is that the women are either AI-generated or lady boys? This probably stems from S'porean men not seeing pretty ladies on our streets, so they cannot believe that images of beautiful women are genuine.

Land ownership laws are very different in other countries, and they differ from place to place. What works here would likely fail elsewhere because there's only one mafia in this land. Everyone else pays cash

All of us can give all the reasons and excuses ... at the end of the day .... money talks. Without money, no project is going to go ahead.

When you have a cowardly population, the rulers can do anything.
The problem is the 65% who would rather choose "the devil they know". To these voters, it's safer to stick with a familiar, even unpleasant PAP than to risk an unknown govt that could be worse. This is because the familiar govt is at least predictable, while the Opposition could present unforeseen and potentially more problematic challenges.

other countries land big big cheap cheap .... why need to build bird nests so expensive and create so many community problems? let people go find a piece of land and build their own home more economical lah .... :whistling:

The PAP has mastered the art of extortion through legal means; they are no different from the Mafia.

Singapore has one of the lowest home ownership. The trick in making the leasee pay for exhorbitant prices for a rental flat and take care of the rental apartment is to instill the false notion that the leasee own the apartment. Be it HDB, condo, landed. You are a leasee holding a triple net lease which will eventually depreciate down to zero. No need to wait until 99 years. Give it 40 - 60 years, everything will be falling apart and the remaining value in the lease depreciate even faster. Have you ever been into a building that is >40 or 60 years old? You get the picture. As if that isn't enough, the rules and regulations are there to deter a prospective "buyer" (or perhaps a new leasee would be more appropriate) from taking over the remaining lease with huge upfront and much lower LTV from the bank.

Thinking about sub renting out your whole unit? You sure you making money or working (working as in finding tenants, signing contract, collecting rents, etc..) for free? When one factor in lease decay, PV, FV, it's all an illusion that the any rental money (in real terms) derived from that unit is going into your pocket.

I could be wrong, anyone want to dispute that?

HDB dwellers are not permitted to use even their fully paid-up flats as collateral to banks, to raise credit facilities for private loans. Public flat dwellers are likely to have their homes confiscated if they fail to comply with restrictive HDB terms and conditions. HDB refers to flat owners as tenants, and those who rent from the owners as sub-tenants. The above conditions make it clear that the HDB is the landlord.

only in Singapore that government dictate where you stay, who you stay with and force you to fork out huge sums to lease 99 years a small pigeonhole.
and they can revoke this lease anytime under guise of en-bloc.

try doing this elsewhere and you have people on the streets.

No land, what to do? Sinkees still can afford to buy a flat while all over the developed world, their people kpkb that they can't afford to buy a home. So, they are taking it out on foreigners and blame their government for a global problem. Lucky sinkees. No need to protest. All it taken care of.

More than 85% can only afford to pay long term rent on a HDB flat.
