Thai supermarket chain Big C has opened a new flagship store in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong as part of its expansion strategy in the city.

The retailer entered the Hong Kong market in 2023, introducing a broad selection of Thai products to local consumers. Big C said the new store builds on a more immersive retail format, featuring upgraded design and in-store experiences based on a “Five-Sense” concept (hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch).

As part of the sensory experience, the store entrance is infused with frangipani, a scent developed by Thai wellness brand Bhawa using natural essential oils. A signature Tuk-Tuk sits at the front, while large LED screens display product videos.

Inside, the space features a spacious layout, interactive displays, and dedicated tasting and demonstration zones to showcase Big C’s “Ready to Eat” line, which is prepared daily in local kitchens.

The company has also incorporated sensory details such as Thai pop music in its theme tune for brand recall. In-store events, such as aromatherapy workshops, cooking demonstrations, and Thai massage sessions, add to the experience.

Established in 1993 and based in Bangkok, Big C operates in Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
