There are no exceptions for the type of profession you are in. No exceptions for doctors, or lawyers or dentists, etc. Being a soldier is a profession just like any other. Why should there be an exception for it? There should be non.

Perhaps he signed on immediately after starting his NS? That could be why he considers himself to have joined the SAF right after A Levels.

Are you some fucking retard? Working for the SAF is a job. Just like working as firefighter, or ambulance driver, etc. They get paid to do it. They choose to do it. They volunteer to do it. NS is compulsory. Whether you like it or not, you HAVE to do it. You are forced to do it and at very low compensation. If you sign a contract with SAF to work for them, that is not NS. Because you choose to work that job. What they should have done is to come back after they disrupted for their studies, take 2 years to complete NS like any other singapore man at NS pay, and then take up their post in the SAF at SAF pay. The Constitution of Singapore says they have to serve NS. Sign contract and get $3K a month and $150K a year for studies is not NS. Don't be a fucking retard.
