There are many S'poreans who claim to be able to afford a condo and car, but prefer a HDB flat and public transport because both are of acceptable standard. Not many Sinkies admit that private homes and transport are beyond their budget.

The frustration felt by many young and not-so-young degree holders in SG is that after studying hard and making it through university, they are no better off than when they were students. They still live in a HDB flat and cannot afford a car.

Let us be honest. The quality of life for us and our family would be far better if we live in a landed home or condo and drive a car. It must be frustrating for the middle class that both private homes and transport have been priced out of their reach because of the Govt's policy to invite far too many foreigners into SG to compete for the limited supply of these 2 prized commodities.

Can't even afford a 4rm BTO flat priced above $700k, might have to settle for 2rm or 3rm flat, which were meant for very low income family in the 70s & 80s, but the floor area were much bigger than present ones.
