He's just a construction worker. He should be thankful to not be working in the Middle East e.g. Dubai.

Japan is heaven compared to that.


 
From my experience, working in a Japanese company, your contribution will only get recognized after you have completed their "10-year" probation, even among the Japanese themselves. Anything less than this, just do what your superior says and don't argue.

I guess thst is similar to theur apprenticeship in sushi and sashimi making too.only after a long while will you get a certificate and be able to open your own shop fully
