Even a 44mm watch face is insufficient for me. And not many mechanical watches go over 45mm. I have one 50mm Seiko-movement watch but it's like wearing a brick on my wrist.
Yes, the weight issue is a real problem due to the stainless steel. 50mm is huge! But you can switch to a rubber strap. Or get a titanium watch. I bought the pelagos because of this.

Pelagos is too big and too thick for me. The Blackbay 58 is perfect.

I have this vintage model 1500. Purchased late 1970s. Rolex service centre replaced the acrylic crystal once, However, it has not seen any wrist time in the past 20 yrs or so, after I took a fancy to larger watches 40-42mm. As for restoration or modding, I only touch seikos. So if I fucked up, it's not an expensive mistake.

I will probably die with a mechanical wrist watch on me. It's the only piece of "jewelry" I allow myself to wear. But I have stopped adding to my collection liao. Even when I am wearing a tracker during exercise, I still have my watch on the other wrist.
wat? you exercise with two watches?? :geek:

44 insufficient for eyes or for wrist size? I find even 42 a bit largish on my wrist.
My eyes. If I ever wear a watch again, this what I will get. 50mm with clear legibility.

I find that I don't have a problem with the hour and minutes as long as the hands are contrast-y and thick enough. no dress watches 4 me. The big issue is the date window.

I used to laugh at the rolex cyclops.... Now I think it's a necessity on every mechanical watch.

I prefer the whole watch face to be a cyclops.

my apple watch 6.9 is performing well so far. 69% of battery life left every night. measures heartbeat, number of steps, miles walked, etc. flawlessly. syncs with my macbook, iphone, and ipad for all notifications and media, including my blink home security system. sometimes while i have my macbook running an mmorts game, ipad streaming a movie, and iphone displaying a live nfl game, the watch acts as a messenger, phone, and alarm notification alternative. me in my post-apocalyptic mancave.
