Back in the ‘90s, actress Athena Chu, 50, was one of Hongkong’s most popular actresses.

She played the Zixia Fairy in Stephen Chow's 1995 fantasy classic A Chinese Odyssey, and also became a household name in Singapore after starring in local telemovie Cupid Love opposite Chen Hanwei.

Then in 1999, Athena, who was known for her sweet, girl-next-door image, shocked fans when she starred in the tackily-named Category III flick Raped By An Angel 2: The Uniform Fan.

As she was already popular then, many felt it was unnecessary for her to take on a role in a Cat III film.

Tricked into starring in the film
Years later, Athena revealed in an interview that she had been “tricked” into starring in the movie by director Wong Jing.

According to reports, Wong Jing had wanted to ride on the Category III movie trend in the '90s, and so he invited Athena to star in the movie.

He told her that it was a "romantic thriller film" and that she would play a cop.

It was only after Athena accepted the role that she found out that there were many nude scenes. The title of the movie was also changed after filming wrapped.

She revealed she felt helpless at the time but there was nothing she could do as the movie had already been shot.

Her daring performance caused a lot of controversy when the film was released and she now considers it a low point of her career.
