6-8 month bonus? Where is your sauce? You mix up with Finance industry lah.

Talk cock lah. For rank and file drs and nurses get 1-2 months bonus good liao.

At least most clinic GP doctors work usual office hours, low-ranking doctors in hospitals need to do shift work like the nurses.

I would think during pandemic, the health care workers earned more. More patients.

Most clinic GP doctors work long hours too. Morning 830am till night 10pm to 12MN.

The young drs in hospital dont do shift work. They so calls aka extended overtime.

Young dr on call that day means they go to work as usual 6 to 7am and work all the way till night through early money until next day 1 to 2pm then knock off. This is NOT considered shift worker.

Most in hospital work on salary.

Same with GPs in clinics and polyclinics.

Those private clinic owned by rhe GP themselves would make more if see more.

For majority work more or less is same salary.

Most drs and nurses are employees.

Just like worker at Mcdonalds or KFC busy or quiet they earn same salary right?

Bonus wise it is complicated in hospital depends whether the singhealth or NHG make money or not. How to tell? If they say make lots of money then public not happy. If make loss then MOH not happy.

So usually is say make small profit or just break even or make small loss. Make profit always small right? So bonus also tend to be small. Make loss then no bonus.

Hospital busy not always make money. Depends is it C class B class or A class busy and what type of cases.

That's true, but clinic GP doctors have full sovereign control of their own schedule, some even go on frequent vacations, just stick a piece of paper on the clinic door to announce your upcoming leave and that's that.

Those who want to work harder do so out of their own free will.

Really? That's nonsense I can tell you frankly. And it means I am very certain of this to say that because I do respect you laksaboy.

No lah. Maybe you see is those very old GP already cant be bothered liao want to retire.

Doubt any of the big chain GP clincs would do that. Same with most clinics. You close is bad. Means your regular patients have to go elsewhere. Go elsewhere means chance for competition to steal them away.

Competition in the GP market has been very stiff since the mid 2000s. I think it has gotten worse with time.

What you described is maybe things you saw in the 1980s and 1990s. Which gives away your age

No more since 2000s.

In 2000s was also when we saw big rise in the locum GP market. All the clinics hire locum to keep clinic open while the dr is away.

This thing about being in control of life.....how many pte GP clinic you know open only 9 to 5 these days? And if not then why? Cos they have full control and choice? Doubt it.

Nope the GP doctor downstairs does exactly that. He is not very old.

Is his clinic business good? Very busy? So when he is away where his patients go?

Rare lah. Of course can have exceptions. Sometimes maybe this Dr come from rich family?

Quick question. That clinic downstairs what are opening hours like? 7 days a week? 5 days a week? Open nights? Aesthetic arm?

Husband and wife team both GPs?

I guess there is a lack of competition in the neighbourhood. There's only a shitty Raffles clinic within walking distance.

Opens 5.5 or 6 days. Closed by 8-9pm. And taking leave more often than you would expect doctors to do.

From what I have heard the solo GP clinic is getting rare in SG. Correct me if what I am hearing is wrong.

Solo GP clinic or small group the advantage is control. The big disadvantage is they lose out on many insurance contracts and big company dr contracts. Also economies of scale.

But I think there are still successful ones.

I have a classmate who did very well with his oen solo GP clinic and also roped in another classmate to work with him opened another branch.

Taking lots of holidays and able to close clinics for those periods of holiday means either he dont need money earned enough liao or has some other source of income.

Honestly this is not the norm lah. 1970s 1980s maybe. Not in 2021.

But dr also human. Got family. Family also want go holiday once in a while. Sometimes not worth it to hire a locum. Locum is not cheap. And usually regular patient also dowan see locum might wait for regular dr to come back. So could lose more money keeping clinic open by hiring locum

So.....close clinic lor. Tell staff take a break also. All happy. Get rest. But to do that regularly? How frequently?

Maybe he go away is to give talks or do some other work, conduct training courses or clases or conference speaker actually earns him more income. You never know.
