Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has denied media reports that its COVID-19 vaccine is not very effective for people over 65.

The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine has not yet been approved in Australia
In separate reports, German daily papers Handelsblatt and Bild said the vaccine had an efficacy of 8 per cent or less than 10 per cent, respectively, in people over 65 years of age.

German officials were concerned the vaccine may not receive approval from the European Union's European Medicines Agency for use in those over 65, Bild reported in its online edition.

The reports mark another potential issue for AstraZeneca, which told the EU last week it could not meet agreed supply targets up to the end of March after running into production problems.

Frustration was already growing among European countries because Pfizer and partner BioNTech announced a temporary slowdown in vaccine supplies earlier in January.

In a statement, AstraZeneca described the German media reports saying its COVID-19 vaccine was shown to have a very low efficacy in the elderly as "completely incorrect".

The company said the United Kingdom's Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation supported the vaccine's use in the elderly.

It also said strong immune responses to the vaccine had been shown in blood analysis of elderly trial participants.

But once it is approved most Australians are expected to receive the AstraZenaca vaccine, which was co-developed with Oxford University.

Australia signed supply orders for the the AstraZeneca vaccine months ago, with the vaccine being manufactured in Australia.

On December 30, the UK became the first country to approve the two-shot AstraZenaca vaccine and did not impose an upper age limit.

The UK has so far focused on the elderly and healthcare workers for its immunisation campaign.

AstraZeneca's main trial in the UK started testing on adults no older than 55, because it initially focused on healthcare personnel and frontline workers in active duty.

Elderly trial participants were recruited later so that infections, which are needed to arrive at reliable efficacy data, were also coming in later.

In a paper published in medical journal The Lancet on December 8, researchers at Oxford University said efficacy data based on infections in the elderly were still limited.

"Efficacy data in these cohorts are currently limited by the small number of [infection] cases, but additional data will be available in future analyses," they said in the paper.

The fact that even one die from it, the vaccine is a no go and this is 29 of them. Human lives is not for you to play a numbers game. And if u read it correctly, their govt is concerned.

I have said it numerous time for people to wake up that this virus is bullshit and the aim is for people to inject vaccines to allow AI and deep state control of people. But yes, I am just born yesterday, I am not salt more than rice full of experiencesss boomers.

The only people who allow vaccine into them are being lie to and always believe the mainstream. Even singapore has cases already and I believe PAP will try to hide (the death) that too.. Good luck for those who wish to take the vaccine. Its your life and you make the decision.

KNb bhai my uncle agree with this bottom line KNN but my uncle say got another bottom line: no choice lor vulnerable don't inject also at high risk KNN that's why my uncle say gov should force the healthy to inject to protect the vulnerable but this will not happen hence the 2nd bottom line KNN
