After completing the program I will be a family physician. Earnings will be about $200-$300k a year. But right now I am working in oil and gas. Current pay is about $80-$90k a year and there is prospect for further promotion.
Take pay cut? Short term loss long term gain?
The idea to is to get the bird in hand. Doing residency will mean get CCFP and licence to be dr. Bird in hand.
Oil and gas promotion who knows?
Suffice to say I did residency july 2013 to july 2015. And by the end of 2015 oil prices started to drop. Had I stayed in oil and gas probably retrenched and regret not getting bird in hand while was hoping for the 2 in the bush.
