Well, if people have disposable income and wish to spend it that way, they are welcome to do so.
Two caveats:
1) Most pre-season players are crappy academy youths and reserves.
2) Not everyone who supports a certain team goes to watch it play. Expect a diminished atmosphere.

In 2001, I spent $100 plus on a ticket to watch Man United beat Singapore Selection 8-1
