How to develop a good habit of reading?

i have problems reading thru a big chuck of words or paragraphs.
i tend to doze off or feel sleepy after a few sentences and stop to read.
i usually skim and scan the whole article.
Sometimes i juz hit the last part of the whole article to get the conclusion of the story.
I do read articles start from the end instead of the beginning.

am i suffering from dyslexia?

is there ways to improve reading and get more interested in it?

Try reading the Straits Times everyday. I've been doing that for years and it has improved my reading and writing skills.

READING IS NEVER A GOOD HABIT.

Too CIVILIZED & STUPID & PEOPLE PUT SHIT INTO YR BRAIN.

Once gets in will not get out almost impossible to DETOX.

KNN my uncle keep reading medical books until he think he already exceeded many small doctors KNN only he lacking practical skills to perform surgery for patients KNN but confirm with chop his knowledge far exceeded many gps KNN
eh... sweetie. can ask your uncle how he chooses which books to read or not?

got so many books, read wrong book waste time. please ask your uncle to advise me how to choose med books.

Go to prison. Most prisoners become avid readers.
I always rediscovere my love for reading and the wonderful world of books inside prison. But once out very hard to keep to the habit as many distractions in the real world

KNN my uncle say is not a matter of reading wrong or correct books KNN it is the area of coverage that matters KNN or else typical doc would just refer patient to a specialist KNN firstly he read parts by parts of human structures and all it's organs then slowly expanded to diseases to technology involve with diagnosing those diseases to interpreting diagnostic imagings, probable treatments methods, medical terminology used in hospitals KNN although his methods is not well structured like what medical students get in medical school but the area of coverage exceeded the hospital house officers KNN he is now into deep studies on various organs transplant KNN

KNN my uncle also realised that we cannot depend on 1 specialist to diagnose part of a patient's symtoms as eventually everything in our body are co related KNN what is currently happening in the medical world is that the patient will endup being kicked like a ball from 1 specialist to another KNN this is not right KNN hence he aspire to be a specialist of specialist KNN sounds absurd but KNN this is the knowledge that is good to have in order to be the middleman if your family members or loved ones are stuck in situation like this KNN not many people are aware that when their loved ones is hospitalized many new problems are introduced by the nurses and doctors negligent KNN they would think the patient is at good hands unfortunately this does not happen in real life reason being most of the medical professionals are merely treating their job as a job KNN

The NLB App is the most useful for reading. You can borrow and read ebooks (using Overdrive App). You can also download all your favourite magazines, from Tatler to Men's Health to Womens Weekly, and browse on your Pressreader App in your Tablet or Ipad for free. No need to bother buying magazines anymore, plus throwing old issues away. I hate the PAP, but this is probably the best thing they have given me as the government of the day. Lol :D

kumsahamida. :notworthy:

Usually, before I board a flight, I will use the NLB App at the lounge, download 10 to 15 magazines via free wifi, and read using my Pressreader App on board. Otherwise, when there's no chiobu stewardess on board to chat with, it can be quite boring. Lol :D

Crap. Propaganda. I'm a living testimony of not reading ST for 3 years now. And I'm no worse off with keeping up-to-date with topical news.

TS, it's an established language fact to improve your general reading skills -scan, skim 1st go. Many make the mistake to follow line by line (worse, word for word and checking dictionary). Not only slows you down but also lose interest.

Just go back for where needed 2nd reading (for rechecking facts or your understanding. So your headlines reading with skimming gives you overall gist or rough total picture.

Speed reading skills can only be beneficial. Even if one gets misled by dumb headers on some threads here

This forum is a great place to practise "speed reading". I do it all the time :D

KNN speed reading and sight reading are different - the former is to read quickly, the latter is to read quickly what you have seen for the first time and play it quickly on your chosen musical instrument. KNN

KNN my uncle only perform sight reading for music KNN
