SINGAPORE -

The updated voter rolls of Singaporeans eligible to vote in the next general election are now open for public inspection, the Elections Department (ELD) said on Monday (April 15).

There are a total of 2,594,740 electors in the Registers of Electors, which were certified on Monday. This is about 80,000 more people than the 2,515,322 when the registers were last revised in 2017.

The ELD said those who did not vote in a past election and had their names removed from the register as a result can apply to have their names restored, so that they can vote in future elections.

This has to be done before the election period, as applications for restoration will not be processed from the day the writ for an election is issued until after Nomination Day, if the election is not contested, or until after Polling Day.

Singaporeans living abroad, whose names are in the registers, may register as overseas electors to vote at one of the designated overseas polling stations if they have not done so after Feb 1, 2019.

But they must have resided in Singapore for an aggregate of at least 30 days during the three-year period between Feb 1, 2016 and Jan 31, 2019.

While application for registration as an overseas elector is open all year round, applications will not be processed from the third day after the writ for an election is issued until after Nomination Day, if the election is uncontested, or until after Polling Day.

The ELD said Singaporeans can check their particulars in the registers at its premises on Prinsep Street,

on its website at

https://www.eld.gov.sg/online.html,

or at community centres and community clubs.

Those living overseas can check at Singapore missions that serve as polling stations in New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, London, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Canberra and Dubai.

Information to check includes details such as name, gender and address, among other things.

The last general election took place in September 2015 and the next must be held by April 2021.

As usual, you Oppies have a filthy mouth. Do you expect Singaporeans to trust you Oppies when your mouth is as smelly as unflushed toilet bowl? What a bunch of useless maggots spewing nonsensical trash day in day out.

agree pap already secured 450,000 + 500,000 = 950,000 votes via Pioneer Generation package and Merdeka Package.

950k ÷ 2,594,750 = 37% in the pockets.

Yayyyyy PAP will win 80% this time
That will be excellent. However, I verily belive that 75% would be enough for a clean sweep of all seats in Parliament. We will reclaim Ajunied GRC and build a better future for the residents in that GRC. They have suffered enough under the incompetent and corrupted Workers Party.

George Yeo will take on Dr Tan C B.

.

THE grape-wines and gossip mills have been running overtime ever since George Yeo shared on Facebook on Friday that he’s coming home, having finally decided to put family first over career. The former Singapore Foreign Minister, going on 65, feels it’s ripe time to call it a day as the chairman and executive director of Kerry Logistics Network (KLN) in June in order to “spend time with family and pursue other interests”. Over seven years, he has been chairman of the Hong Kong company after a distinguished political career spanning 23 years, which ended on a downside note when his six-member team lost the Aljunied GRC in one of the biggest shocks of the 2011 General Elections (GE). They lost to the opposition Workers’ Party, led by the then-Secretary General Low Thia Khiang. In the Facebook note, Mr Yeo wrote: “I indicated to Mr William Ma (the company’s managing director) and Kerry Group of my wish to retire a year ago after my wife recovered from a serious illness. Reaching 65 this year, I want more time for my family and to pursue other interests.” His lawyer-wife Jennifer Yeo, 60, was diagnosed with a rare form of nose cancer two years ago. In February 2018, Mr Yeo said she had responded well to her treatment in the United States, adding that a full check-up showed “no trace anymore of her cancer”, though she will have to be “under close surveillance” in the first two years. News of him throwing the proverbial white career flag sparked heartland speculations over the weekend that Mr Yeo, who joined politics in 1988, when he represented the Aljunied GRC under the-then Kampong Kembangan division, may make a political comeback – either in the upcoming, yet-to-be-decided, GE 2019 or perhaps at a PE (Presidential Elections) in the near future.

You cannot say 75 percent ...it all depends on Pinky's mood. He could decide on the day of the election ...even up to the close of voting ...to decide how large a win the PAP should have.

The Election Department is part of the government for a reason.
