SINGAPORE: A Singaporean couple are suspected by Taiwan police of abandoning the body of a newborn girl in Taipei.
The baby's body was found wrapped in a plastic bag by a recycling company employee, who had discovered it while sorting through recycled rubbish collected from across Taipei in the early hours of Tuesday (Feb 26), local reports said.

The bag containing the baby had been disposed of in a kitchen waste bucket, which was then carried by a rubbish truck from Taipei to Xindian in New Taipei, Focus Taiwan reported on Thursday.
The baby was found with her umbilical cord and placenta intact.
After reviewing street camera footage along the rubbish truck's route, the police concluded that the baby was likely disposed of in Ximending in central Taipei, said the report.
It cited police as saying that a man allegedly wrapped the baby in a black plastic bag and threw the bag into a container full of kitchen waste at around 3am on Tuesday.

Members of the public claimed that they saw the man, who they said spoke Mandarin with a foreign accent, added the police.
In response to Channel NewsAsia's queries, Taiwan police said that the couple are Singaporean, based on records from their hotel stay.
They flew into Taiwan on Feb 19 and departed on Feb 26.
The police added that they are waiting for the results on the DNA of the baby, following tests done on blood found in the couple's hotel room.
They have yet to contact the police in Singapore as they are still verifying information, Taiwan police said.

There's zero chance of them evading the law, extradition issues notwithstanding. Though both are not very bright, they will still be able to make their calculation and see what awaits them.

They are probably deciding whether suicide is the better of these two possibilities: death sentence (very unlikely) or jail time (most definitely if charged for something else other than murder in which they are found guilty and sentenced to death).

SINGAPORE - A couple from Singapore are being investigated by Taiwanese authorities for allegedly dumping the body of a newborn baby girl in a recycling bin.
Taiwan's Criminal Investigation Bureau is also reportedly seeking help from Singapore authorities on the matter, which Singapore police confirmed on Sunday afternoon (March 3).
Taiwanese media reported last Thursday that the baby girl's body was found wrapped in a garbage bag early on Tuesday by an employee from a recycling company, who had been sorting through the trash.
The bag had been carried by a garbage truck travelling from Taipei to Xindian.
According to Taiwanese news channel Focus Taiwan, local police believe that the body of the girl was disposed of shortly after her birth in central Taipei.
She was found with her placenta and umbilical cord still intact.

The police reviewed footage from cameras along the route of the garbage truck and said that a man in his 20s had wrapped the body in a black plastic bag and thrown it into a container for kitchen waste at around 3am on Tuesday.
They added that members of the public who claimed they had seen the man said he spoke in Mandarin with a "foreign accent".
The man reportedly checked into a hotel "popular with South-east Asian visitors" with a woman in tow, but left on Tuesday afternoon, before authorities could locate him.
Another Taiwanese news outlet, TVBS News, identified the woman as a 24-year-old from Singapore, and said the pair had flown in to Taiwan from Singapore on Feb 19.
In response to queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said on Sunday that they have been in touch with the Taiwanese authorities.
SPF added that they are waiting for an official request from their Taiwanese counterparts on the assistance they need.
"We are unable to comment further as in investigations by the Taiwanese authorities are ongoing," an SPF spokesman said.
The Straits Times understands that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware of the case.
Speaking to Chinese-language paper Shin Min Daily News over the phone on Friday, the man at the centre of the case denied that his girlfriend was pregnant and had given birth in Taiwan.
He also said that he had not left the hotel to throw the bag away at the time.
Similarly, the girl told Shin Min over the phone that if she were pregnant, she would not have been able to board the flight.
The man's parents also told the newspaper that their son and his girlfriend were indeed in Taiwan for a holiday, but they did not know if she was pregnant.
His parents added that if their son was found to be involved in the case, he will have to bear the consequences of his actions.
On Sunday, Shin Min reported that the man and his girlfriend have not returned home since their trip and have remained uncontactable by their family members.

Why not go for abortion instead ? Chose to fly all the way to Taiwan to dump the baby girl. Something is amiss here...

If what is claimed by Taiwan news media is true about her illicit sexual liaisons with Japanese-dog Lee Teng Hui, then she is really a deceptive slut. Hope she will be arrested by communist PRC and sent to a hard labour camp with no release date.

SINGAPORE: Tests have determined that the bloodstains found in the Taipei hotel room reportedly booked by a Singaporean couple are a match to the DNA of a newborn girl they allegedly dumped at a recycling plant last week.
Taiwan police told Channel NewsAsia on Monday (Mar 4) that the DNA test results are "a match".

An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday to determine if the baby girl died before or after birth, Focus Taiwan reported.

The baby had been found with her umbilical cord and placenta intact.
If the baby died before birth, the suspects could be charged with abandoning a corpse, Focus Taiwan reported, citing the police.
However, if she died after birth, the suspects could be charged with negligent homicide and abandoning a corpse, the report said.

An investigating officer from Taiwan said that they will seek help from Singapore authorities through formal channels when their investigation is complete.

The body of the baby girl was found in a black plastic bag at a recycling plant in New Taipei early on Feb 26. Investigations showed that the baby was originally dumped into a kitchen waste basket in central Taipei's Ximending district.
CCTV footage showed that a man had thrown the bag into the bin.
Taiwan police said that the man and his female companion are Singaporean, based on records from their hotel stay. The couple, who are in their early 20s, flew into Taiwan on Feb 19 and departed on Feb 26.
The Singaporean couple have denied that they dumped the baby, and said that the woman was not pregnant, according to reports in Singapore Chinese media.
The man told Lianhe Zaobao that he was baffled by the Taiwanese media reports and said he did not leave the hotel to throw anything away on the morning of Feb 26.
